HOW DID JESUS DEAL WITH DOUBTS?

  1. With Thomas we see he would not believe when the Peter disciples said they had seen Jesus. ” Now Thomas (also known as Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.

Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” -{John 20:24-29}

Stop Doubting and do what? “BELIEVE!” The way to deal with Doubts is to BELIEVE. Have faith! Faith in Him!

  1. THE TWO DESPONDENT MEN ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS,

They had left Jerusalem and were “despondent,”  Jesus had died and He having been raised form the dead and walks alongside them and hiding who

“One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” “What things?” he asked.

“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.  The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him;  but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning  but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.

 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning Himself. “-{ Luke 24:18-27}

“Slow to Believe.” What?” All that the prophets have spoken. He referred to The Word of God!   He reminded them of the promise of God, He reveals Himself in all the Scripture

 From these two passages Jesus deals showing how to DEFEAT Doubt…

  1. Stop Doubting… You have the ability to do so!
  2. Start Believing Him. Start Exercising Faith. Believing He calls Blessed!
  3. Believe– Take Him at His Word.
  4. How? RECOGNIZE the Doubts are an attack to distrust God. REPLACE your thoughts with Truth- What God says in His Word!  REPEAT every time you are tempted!
  5. Look For Jesus as you Read The Scriptures.

“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.”-{Luke 24:27}.

TRAIN YOUR THINKING…TO THINK ON GOOD NEWS. Ask the LORD to remind you throughout the day. PICK a verse and memorize, meditate upon it such as 2 Tim 2:8 or Romans 4:25. Write it out and perhaps put on your bathroom mirror and for the next month every time you brush your teeth you will read it and before you know it, you will have memorized to recall and fuel for the HOLY Spirit to help you bring to remembrance…to strengthen your faith, exalt, praise Jesus Christ and motivation to share this GOOD NEWS with others both believers and no believers that they too may know Him and worship Him in truth and spirit.

REMEMBER CONTINUALLY TODAY… JESUS CHRIST… RAISED FROM THE DEAD! Paul says, “THIS IS MY GOSPEL”… MY GOOD NEWS! {2 Timothy 2:8}

If you must “think” today, and you do, “think” on the TRUTH about Jesus Christ and remember His Resurrection and the hope it imparts to you and to be shared by you with others of the GOOD NEWS of JESUS CHRIST, RAISED FROM THE DEAD!

Think on some “Good news” for a change today and the good news we can always think on the HOPE of His resurrection and the implications for us!

“Doubt your doubts and believe God!”
