“And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.”-{Luke 2:36-37}

The word “Praying” in Luke 2:37 shows that Praying is one way to “serve” (one translation) the Lord and the word “serve” used in this verse means, “Worship. “ to ascribe worth to Him…

So when you pray and the thought may come to your mind, “what’s the use of you praying?”

You answer the accusation with “because God receives worship when I do!”

Turn the accusation into adoration

Luke 2:37-38.”and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but WORSHIPED night and day, fasting and PRAYING.”

Note, Anna’s situation;

Married, then lost her husband. A Widow. We see her heart for God and how she served Him through prayer and fasting. Her life counted to such an extent the LORD God has her story placed in His Word for all to see her heart, her activity, and her praise from God in including her on the pages of the Scriptures. You too in old age can serve the LORD through… PRAYER! It’s not about a location but wherever you are you can turn your thoughts into prayer and praise! Pray on!!!

We can all grow weary in praying at times for various reasons. Can you Specifically encourage someone using the above verses to encourage them why they should keep praying …and encourage yourself also why you should keep praying….you are “serving, worshiping” the LORD as you do!

God Bless
