This is a verse that in my many years of illness could summarise God’s mercy, and kindness to me. God has used His Word and it has comforted me, corrected me, sustained me revealed Christ to me on many a dark road during my illness. It has been a joy, a delight to my heart, calmed my worn-out mind, refreshed, encouraged, and breathed hope into my tired body on mind on many an occasion. It has soothed me, befriended me, guided me, and sustained me. It has been so often a joy to me, bringing me up at times out of the depths of despair to Christ himself through His Precious Word. Times when I found reading through the intensity and longevity of pain difficult to concentrate, “But God….” in His kindness using the Spirit of God to bring to my remembrance a verse or two to meditate upon during the day or through the long sleepless nights to nourish my soul.

I hope it will encourage you and indeed for you to encourage others…

Troubles are inevitable in this life, but with them God offers hope and indeed the means to delight amidst the various sorrows. The Psalmist testifies to the power of The Word of God to internally meet him in his great pressure and crushing. My prayer for you today is that as God met him He also will meet you and this too will be your testimony to the transforming power of the Word of God to delight your heart in the midst of at times great troubles.

The Psalmist knew that apart from the sustaining Word of God he would have perished.  But note the word not only keeps him as a means of prevention.…from “perishing” but strengthens him, it Promotes to cause him to “DELIGHT” and find “pleasure” in it. Such is the power of the Living Word from the LIVING GOD!!

The Psalmist sees the two-fold blessing of God through his Word as a means of PREVENTION and PLEASURE for him, in times of “affliction!”  But also imparts POWER -{Read Psalm 192:93}.

How great is God and how gracious to impart His word to us to meet us frail creatures with Himself through His Word by His Spirit! PRAISE HIM!

“If Your Law (Word) had not been my DELIGHT, I would have perished in my affliction.”-( Psalm 119:92)

God bless,
