We are to be a Thankful people Scripture teaches us, not just occasionally or when things are going well but consistently, growing as grateful people. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”-{1 Thessalonians 5:18}; Including anxious times; “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”-{Philippians 4:6}. It is a means to help us devote ourselves to prayer. “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.”-{Colossians 4:2}. The LORD is to be the FOCUS of our Thanksgiving, “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.”-{Psalm 107:1}. Thanksgiving Glorifies God; “He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan…Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” –{ Luke 17:16,18} We are to be growing in our Gratitude to the Father for our salvation. “…always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. {Read Col 1:9,12}.

We have many reasons to thank God as these verses show us. Sometimes, amidst my pain from my muscle disease I find it hard to focus my thoughts and what I have cultivated over the years by His grace is to use letters from the Alphabet to help me focus on Reasons to Thank the LORD. Below are a few using the letter “F” which I hope will encourage you to Specifically THANK HIM!

1.- FORGIVENESS;  

“When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.“-(Col 2:13-14)

2.- FAITHFULNESS;

“If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.” –( 2 Timothy 2:13)

3.- FELLOWSHIP;

 “God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.“-(1 Cor 1:9)

4.- FRIENDSHIP;

“The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a FRIEND”-{Exodus 33:11},  “You are MY FRIENDS if you do what I command (John 15:14).
“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you FRIENDS, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”-{John 15:13}.

5. – FATHER;

“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” -(1 John 3:1)

5 Reasons for you and me to thank Him and truth to meditate and use as fuel in your PRAYING as means to praise Him and Trust Him! Read the passages and allow the Holy Spirit to strengthen your faith and inspire your heart to praise Him. Pray that others to may grow in their thanksgiving to God for these FIVE truths.
