“…what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?””-{Deut 10:12-13}
Walking speaks of movement. In Scripture it is used for lifestyle. And so we Pray and ask “LORD help me to walk with You Today.” Walking with God, implies going in the same direction as Him. And what are some characteristics of such? Deuteronomy 10:12-13 shows us some aspects.
As Israel gathered across the Jordan waiting to go into the Promised land, Moses asked them a question, “What does the LORD require of you? “And then he answered them to walk with God and what some of the elements are such as…
- FEAR THE LORD– The Hebrew word for “fear,” means “to regard with feelings of respect, consider holy, and exalted, be in awe of” Reverence and awe of God! Part of fearing God is as paul says “hating evil and clinging to what is good-{Rom 12:89}
- WALK KNOWINGLY– The word “walk” refers how we live and behave. It has the idea of walking “ in all His ways” living “in a way that pleases Him”-{NLT}. To walk, live knowing His will which comes form Knowing His Word. Walking not ignorantly but knowingly
- LOVE HIM – God first loved us and in response we are to love Him with our whole being.
- SERVE HIM – Wholeheartedly! “Love serves not as a servant but as someone who is in love”{preceptaustin.com} Seve the LORD with gladness, Serve Him for Christ sake “ourselves your servants FOR Jesus sake”-{2 Cor 4;5}
- OBEY HIS WORD-“Keep His commandments” His Word is giving that we Know Him better, Know His ways, will and how to live pleasing Him, which is utterly impossible apart from the empowering of the Holy Spirit, But He has given us the Spirit and power to know and live, walk with Him! And what did He promise the people who kept His commandments? “ FOR Your own Good!”. He gives His commandments and knows in keeping them it is for our “good!”
THANK YOU LORD that I can Walk with You by Your grace empowered by Your Holy Spirit. Thank you that I can know that walking with You involves Reverential attitude influencing my actions to walk in obedience, to love You, Serve You, Obey Your Words!
THANK YOU LORD- I can pray for others to walk with You today. I Pray for ______{List the persons name here}, that they may walk in Reverence towards You, Walk in Obedience, Walk in Love to You, Serve You wholeheartedly, Obey Your Word, and walk with You today!
“what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?””-{Deut 10:12-13}
Keep Walking with Him. And if you have stopped? Confess, turn around and walk again with Him. How gracious He is, that we can begin afresh with Him. Walk on!
God bless,
Aidan.
