Reasons To Keep Praying, When You Are Tempted To Quit!

The above thoughts are some ways to understand when you are having a hard time praying, and life seems to be closing in, when you find your are losing hope and ready to quit, when the evil one would whisper,”What’s the point in praying, it doesnt do any good?, Why doesn’t God answer… God doesn’t care…” demonic lies attacking the character of God to you….PRAY ON...

Be aware, Be Encouraged…Don’t think that you are the only one that somehow it is unigue to you to be tempted to quit praying. It is not. As Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, “No temptation has overtaken you except what IS COMMON TO MANKIND.”-{Read 1 Corinthians 10:13}

“…What is COMMON to mankind…” The principle is…you and me are not unique in regards temptation, that we are not the only ones who are tempted in a specific area. Indeed we all are tempted in different areas, we all know something of the temptation to give up, quit praying, for various reasons. The enemy seeking to cut us off from communicating with God. The good news is you don’t have to quit praying!

Here is a good verse to encourage you, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”{Philippians 2:13 nlt}. Note the hope in this verse. God Is working IN you and giving you the desire, the power to do what pleases Him. And since prayer pleases Him, why not Thank Him He is working “in you” to a specific end and ask Him to not only give you the desire but increase the desire and power to continue pressing on praying “without ceasing,” {Read 1 Thessalonians 5:17}, which does not mean praying twenty-four hours a day but being ALERT and READY to pray. For example, something troubles you, pray about it, something tempts you to sin, pray about it, you also may have to flee from it. Something is beautiful…Praise Him,
The phrase“without ceasing” was used to describe a “hacking cough” that caused regular interruptions. “Without ceasing” is being ready and to pray with regular interruptions THROUGHOUT YOUR DAY and NIGHTS when you can’t sleep, or wake up unexpectedly! Shooting up prayers to God! Pray! Ask Him to help you pray…He will as prayer pleases Him!

Below are some thoughts from something I wrote back in 2017 that I hope may encourage you to not give in to the temptation to quit but keep on praying, asking Him to help…and He will!

Consider..,

1. – Praying is a DETERRENT from spiritually Fainting, and becoming DISCOURAGED.

– “Pray lest you faint, {lose heart}- {Luke 18:1}

2. – Praying is a PRIVILEGE, and COSTLY

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way opened for us through the curtain of His body”-{Hebrew :19-20} It cost Jesus Christ HIS LIFE for you and me to have ACCESS to God to pray and be listened to permanent access to Him!-{Read Romans 5:2}

3. – Praying is at times an Exercise of PERSISTENCE

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”- {Matt 7:7-NLT}. It is to persist as the widow who continually appealed to the unrighteous judge who finally gave her justice to shut her up and stop annoying him,”BUT GOD…” is not unjust, unkind, indifferent, but there are times when He answers quickly, other times we have to persist in our praying, confident He Hears and answers prayers, according to His WILL for His glory – {1 John 5:15}

4. – Praying at times is HARD WORK. –

” Epaphras, who is one of your number, a bond slave of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always LABORING EARNESTLY for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.”-{Col 4:12}

5. -Praying with EXPECTANCY –

“And we KNOW, that HE HEARS US in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”-

{1 John 5:15}

6. – Praying For HIS GLORY-

“Pray, then, in this way:‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven… Father GLORIFY Your Name…{Matt 6:9-10, John 12:28}

7. – Praying is a LOVE ISSUE.

“He who has My commandments and KEEPS THEM is the one who LOVES Me“-{John 14:21}. Your Praying, since it is command,when you choose to obey is an EXPRESSION OF LOVE TO GOD FROM YOU!

PRAYER IS A SPIRITUAL CONFLICT;

PRAY ON, it is God’s provision to keep you from losing heart. It cost His Son His life for you to have this PRIVILEGE.At times KNOW it is hard work. It takes dogged persistence at other times. Pray with Expectancy. Praying is a LOVE ISSUE. Pray purposely for the GLORY OF GOD and HIS Will coming in the issue. Pray His Word, His promises… PRAY ON…

One of my favorites is EPAPHRAS who his “Obituary” his “Legacy ” to us is Heaven wants us to know the PREMIUM God places on a person who Prays. He labored in prayer that others would be spiritually assured and mature. And God holds him up to generations.

We can pray on a sick bed- where I presently reside. We can pray on a sports field, at doing chores at home, working on a factory floor, driving, in the shower, at the office, no where is off limits for us to pray.

I have read in some places students cannot pray at school. NOT SO! Maybe not publicly, but quietly we can pray to HIM who Hears… no place can lock us out from talking to Him. EVERY Place we are is as a “LAUNCHING PAD” to speak to Him from!

PRAY ON… The enemy of God does not want us to … God bids us by faith in Him to keep on praying to HIM. The verses above I have mentioned, maybe you can revisit and re-look and be inwardly strengthened by His Spirit to know WHY you should KEEP praying… and be MOTIVATED to Pray… and PRACTICING PRAYER

PRAY ON, when you don’t feel like it.. Ultimately you are expressing LOVE to Him as you do. -{Read John 14:21}
