SET YOUR BEARINGS; -{Acts 11:36}

Today, know your “bearings,” you are by God’s doing a servant of GOD. You have been purchased by His Son’s blood, you are no longer your own, and your plans for yourself as the chief priority of life for your sake are over. If not, now is a good time to turn to Him and submit to Him. You are the servant of God, a Christ follower and you have your own compass to live life, and a message for all His people, like that of Barnabas when he came to Antioch “When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.” -{Acts 11:23}. Note what Barnabas found in the lives of the people when he came. He “saw what the Grace of God had done!”.

God’s Grace was manifested in their lives, the favor, kindness, and changing empowering work of God was evident! That same grace that Saves-{Eph 2:8-9 }; Sustains-{2 Cor 12:9}; Transforms-{Titus 2:11-12 }; was visible! God in action in the lives of His people cannot be hidden!

As a Servant, you have one Divine assignment out of love to Serve Him and others for His sake.-{Read 2 Cor 4:5}. You can be His Barnabas in your attitude and actions to the people around you today, and I have no doubt you will for “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”-{Phil 1:6}. Check the compass of your attitudes and purposes for living today, are they in alignment with His? If not, thank God we can make the adjustments and be due north again and set the course of our life back on course, guided by His truth and timeless word for all His people in all generations including me and… you… today – “to remain true to the LORD with all their hearts!” Barnabas encouraged and strengthened the direction, and purpose of their faith with this clarifying and rallying call to remain true to the LORD and to guard their hearts against all that would hinder them. And so can you be a Barnabas in the lives of others.

WATCH THE WEEDS;

And one caution in regards to guarding, protecting, and prospering the spiritual health of our heart, our inner person. In Spring time my wife likes to tend the little area where she plants flowers. Often it can be hard work as she pulls the weeds that have grown, sometimes she has to take a small shovel and dig deep into the ground to remove the roots of the weeds which would choke out the roots of the newly planted flowers. And so it is with our hearts, there are the attitudes, we will call “the weeds of “such as greed, bitterness, anger, worldliness, jealousy, laziness, etc that all have to be recognized as enemies to the health of our soul and have to be identified and repented of in the soil of the heart is good for the implanting of His Word to do His will and be a Godly influence and benefit to those around us and to be a BARNABAS, a SERVANT of God right where we are. So “guard your heart.” Refuse to adopt attitudes that are dangerous “WEEDS” to your heart that choke out His WORD!

  • Know your position. A Servant of God;
  • Know your purpose; “to remain true to the LORD with all your heart.”
  • Know your message coming alongside others to encourage to help them “to remain true to the LORD with all their hearts”.
  • I Thank God for you, that God has you in this world in these circumstances to know Him, represent Him, and serve Him by choosing to lay down your life, and preferences, to serve others for His sake.

REMINDER;

You are a Barnabas, Be a Barnabas! You have the Spirit of God to empower you, the Word of God to guide you, and the people of God around you to encourage, comfort, and strengthen them in their faith with the words of life to encourage them, “to remain true to the LORD with all their hearts!”
