Today at a medical facility for about six hours to get an infusion. Had a wonderful opportunity to share with and pray with someone who opened up their heart to me regards painful heartache.
Long time to sit but reminded as I looked around at staff, and patients, to pray for each one as they come and go, and so quietly under my breath I can pray to Him who knows all about them and can meet their greatest need with Himself. My circumstances may not be what I would choose but they are what He has for me for now and in the opportunities to pray. It’s easy to “wish” your life away and miss the “opportunities “ before us.
I also have a wonderful dear nurse. A sister in the LORD…
Praise the LORD.
It’s where He has me in His harvest to co-labor with Him…today! “For we are co-workers in God’s service;…” -{1 Cor 3:9}. The opportunity to share, the opportunities to pray…
So sitting in a chair hooked up to an infusion my mind has to go somewhere so I scribbled down these few notes to help remind me but also encourage you…So, together let’s…
Consider…
He chooses the place of service … not one we may naturally choose. But He never asks for our permission but to place our trust in Him though at times through tears. He is up to something of eternal good – the bigger picture- His Name, His Fame… His Glory… OTHERS Benefit .. their “Good.” It is not that we don’t experience His goodness, for we do. -{Rom 8:28-29; Ps 23:6} but our lives are to look upward to Him to be concerned with His honor and outward to the “GOOD” of… OTHERS – for Jesus’ sake. Paul put it this way, “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.“ -(2 Cor 4:5)
Our circumstances may at times indeed be what we would never choose. “But God…”. With the assignment comes competent, sufficient grace to empower us and His Word to encourage, guide, strengthen and equip us to serve Him and others for His sake!-(Read 2 Cor 12:9; Phil 2:13 NLT)
Consider…
Paul and Silas have been beaten and thrown into prison -{Acts 16:25-40}-…” BUT GOD…” would bring “good” out of it. The Salvation of a suicidal jailer and Family…
Consider…
Paul in prison and in Ephesians 3:1 testified that ultimately he was not “Rome’s prisoner ”But God’s! And note his clearly defined objective of why he saw himself there “I Paul the PRISONER OF CHRIST FOR the sake of YOU Gentiles”.
Consider…
Revelation 1:1-3-John suffered on the isle of Patmos….as a result of his loyalty to the LORD Jesus. And from it, multitudes have benefited “ good” over the centuries Reading of the testimony of our LORD Jesus in the book! God had not only John but countless OTHERS in mind for their eternal “Good.”
Consider…
Those in Hebrews 11:35-40; Some flogged, stoned to death, living in caves. holes in the ground. Whom it says “The world was not worthy.” Their trials and suffering, as severe as they were. were temporal “But God…” had their ultimate Eternal “good” in view and He commends their faith in the hard place and stamps His approval upon their faith!
Consider….
Stephen …stoned.- {Acts 7:54-60}. Who benefited? The man who gave “hearty approved”- to his stoning… SAUL, who would become Paul the apostle! In whom we read he was “But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for My name.”-{Acts 9:15-16}. “Chosen… to suffer for My Sake.” And the “Good,” that has come forth from his life and the writings God used him for!
Consider…
Acts 8:1-7 we read of the church was persecuted and scattered… and as a result, the Gospel was spread. “Good” came forth from persecution! OTHERS would benefit!
Consider…
“But God…” always has bigger purposes that we often cannot see though at times we can look back and see His providence of “good” coming forth from difficult times and people…
Consider …
God chooses the portion of His Harvest field to co-labor with Him. And always for our growth in dependence and His glory to benefit “OTHERS” to hear His Word of Him and the “Good” news!
Consider…
In the circumstances you find yourself in, know that you are not alone, know you are not without purpose, and know you are His servant, purchased by Him for His glory and purposes to co-labor with Him in the circumstances of His choosing. Your life matters, your circumstances matter, and the people in your circumstances matter to God!
Nurse discovered the needle had come out of my arm. I hadn’t known it had …
And the medicine was going onto the floor. No idea for how long but as I told her “It’s all good, no one died!” We had a laugh and move in. She put a new needle in and continued on … she has been so kind to me on each visit. And takes time to put a needle in without hurting me as due to my disease it doesn’t take much to do so. His mercy and goodness to me. Thankful!
Consider…
- Whose You are…GOD’S
- Where you are… Your present circumstances with the people there or who come to mind.
- Why you are here… for His Glory and to serve OTHERS “good,” for His sake!
Carry on praying,…sharing,…co-laboring with the LORD where you are!
You’re on Divine assignment with and for the King!
God bless,
“Now I want you to know, brothers, that my circumstances have actually served to advance the gospel.”-( Phil 1:12)
God bless,
Aidan
