- “We have an ADVOCATE with God…” –{1 John 2:1}
The word “Advocate” -{paráklētos}-“Advocate, Adviser, Helper”- is the regular term in the New Testament used for “attorney” {lawyer} of someone giving evidence that would stand up in court! A legal advocate who makes the right call in court!
- “A parakletos might be a person called in to give witness in a law court in someone’s favor, or an advocate called in to plead the cause of someone under a charge which would issue in a serious penalty; an expert called in to give advice in some difficult situation, or a person called in when, for example, a company of soldiers were depressed and dispirited to put new courage into their minds and hearts. Always a parakletos is someone called in to help in time of trouble or need.”-{Barclay}
Before the “Bar of God” we are represented when the accusations, condemnations, and when we sin are brought forward against all the followers of Christ, those who have turned to God in submission and trust exclusively in the Person and work of Jesus Christ on their behalf! For in the LORD Jesus Christ alone, we have an Accepted Representative, A Favored Representative, A Qualified representative, the Winning Attorney, the Righteous Jesus Christ! We have Someone Who Wins all His cases and has never lost one nor will He. He is our Eternal Advocate, Favored by the Court of God because of His credentials…” Jesus the Righteous,” who appeals His merits on our behalf and they are ALWAYS NOTED and ACCEPTED! –
There is no other name, angelic being, who can stand before God qualified, accepted, perfect in themselves as “…THE RIGHTEOUS”- ONLY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST Is Worthy, Qualified, Authorized, and fully approved and Accepted to represent His blood-bought, redeemed people!
- “WE”– Note it is inclusive -John includes himself in that, he is not above them but right with them, indeed all His people are included in the “we”, believers– followers of the LORD Jesus who have turned to God and submitted to Him and trusted His Son’s righteous life and death on the cross to pay for our sins – you are included in the “we” -and that includes YOU too. You have Jesus Christ the Righteous as your Advocate who has and is Victoriously representing you!
- For “WE HAVE” grammatically is “present tense,”- OUR CONTINUAL POSSESSION,
- “WE HAVE CONTINUALLY” an Advocate with God! Our Glorious Advocate- the LORD Jesus Christ- The Righteous- judicially approved by God, in conformity to God’s being, will, and standard of what is right!
-
“RIGHTEOUS”-“The Amplified Bible has “Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father’s will in every purpose, thought, and action].”
Think about This. This very second and every second for all eternity…YOU…. “… have an ADVOCATE with God, JESUS CHRIST THE RIGHTEOUS!”
- He Alone is Authorized,
- He Alone is Qualified,
- He Alone is Able to represent you, and this He does not with weariness or indifference but with Love, Glorious Love for you!! Your case is eternally settled because of Who represents you! It is eternally settled!
- He Alone is… Jesus Christ The Righteous One.
We all must stand before God, who will represent you? The Savior? Or you? If You have never turned and placed your trust in Jesus Christ to save you from the penelty and power of sin you have no hope, none “BUT GOD…” has made a way through His Son that you have the perfect ADVOCATE to represent you, and He has never lost a case becuae He has kept the law of God perfectly on your behalf and paid your penalty on that Cross and arose again three days later that you be declared by God justified… forgiven! Glory in His work for you- Jesus the Righteous!
IF YOU ARE A FOLLOWER OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, BE ASSURED HIS WORD DECLARES…
- YOU HAVE AN ADVOCATE WITH GOD- JESUS CHRIST THE RIGHTEOUS! HOW WONDERFUL IS HE! REST IN HIS PERSON, AND HIS WORK ON YOUR BEHALF, AND CHERISH HIM!
“There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are “In Christ” because of our Advocate- Jesus the Righteous!
