“Let us not become weary {Exhausted, Fatigued,} in doing good, for at the proper time WE WILL reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”-{Gal 6:9-10}.

The temptations vary, the thoughts multiply of why you should STOP and throw in the towel from continuing to “do good!” The “good” as verse 10 shows is doing that which is beneficial to “ALL” as you have “opportunity,” but especially towards believers. There is a PROMISE that at the proper time, His time, you “WILL REAP A HARVEST IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP.” There is a FUTURE REWARD, if we DO NOT GIVE UP! The temptation to grow weary, become emotionally, spiritually exhausted, tired,weary, and just quit, is very REAL, but these verses speak to the REALITY of such a temptation but also the RESULT of choosing to not give up and it is a FUTURE REWARD! Keep choosing to DOING GOOD… and ALL people and especially the believers are the RECIPIENTS as you and I have Opportunity. Let us do good for His sake, knowing He has promised a future REWARD!

“Good” works. Everyone, both lost and saved at times, do “good,” that which is beneficial for another. But what differentiates them? For the believer, the Scripture teaches it is done out of Love for Him, by faith, for His glory. {Read 1 Cor 16:14; Rom 4:20; 1 Cor 10:31.} That is what differentiates what is “good,” and what is of eternal value and Whom you are doing it for! The lost person does not do it for God, the saved do it for the Savior! Consider the motivation  of “why” and for “whom,” we do it!

1. – PERSPECTIVE is needed. It is easy to lose our spiritual perspective. So we have to come back to Him and His Word to see what He says about it.What does God say about this situation I find myself in? What does His Word say I am to do?

2.- PERSEVERANCE is to be Practiced. Persevere in hope, in confident expectation in His Word. For there can be a time between sowing and reaping also…so we must continue on…take the long term view. If you have stopped? Start again, persevere, Why? Because He says so, and it is ultimately a love issue. Love for God! {Read John 13:34-35}

3. -PROMISE- to Keep before you as MOTIVATION to keep sowing, in doing good , namely. “we WILL reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

4.- PERSON – to Contemplate who promises… the LORD, who tells us what to do, and why do it. Contemplate Him! It always come back to Him. The temptation is to divorce you and your situation from Him! Get your thoughts as quickly as you can when tempted. and ask Him for His help and a verse to help guide your thinking to instruct your doing! Begin your thoughts with Him and end with Him when tempted!

He has never broken a promise and He will not begin with you or me… so persevere in Hope, keeping perspective on eternal realities, for He who Promises, is faithful and true, think on the PERSON who promises! These might be two good verses to memorize, meditate, stimulate you to continue doing good, when the temptation to throw in the towel, “justify” to yourself why you should “give up,” but you can use these verses to speak to yourself on reasons why you are NOT TO GIVE UP. And instead keep Persevering. Someone is about to benefit today as you have “opportunity to do good!” Keep on, keeping on…for HIS SAKE!

HMM…-
Last night and parts of the night, I was battling why quit and throw in the towel in certain situations… I awoke this morning and shortly afterwards these verses came to mind, and so I scribbled down some thoughts {which are the above} and I guess I have got the answer why I Should not quit and throw in the towel! It’s Too Early, and It’s not His will! If you find yourself in that place I hope the above thoughts, verses, encourage you. May He strengthen you to Keep on DOING good! It is  to be Occupied with OTHERS, for their BENEFIT, ultimately Jesus sake! “… ourselves your servants for Jesus sake!”-{Read 2 Cor 4:5}
