Great in Existence,…Praise Him!
The word “LORD” in verse 1 is “Yahwah” which is the name of God and speaks of His self- existence as in Exodus 3:10-15, “Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.” Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.”
“I AM…” “This name contains each tense of the verb “to be,” and it might be translated I was, I am, and I shall always continue to be. The words express unchanging and eternal being. In the text they simply declare God to be self-existent, self-sufficient, and all-sufficient being.”-{Cockrell.}
.”…The root of this name means “self-existing,” one who never came into being, and one who always will be. When Moses asked God, “Who shall I tell Pharaoh has sent me?” God said, “I AM THAT I AM.” Jehovah or Yahweh “-{Adrian Rogers}
“God’s being is underived. He is a self-caused existence. His existence is independent of everything else. The self-existence of God in implied in the name “Jehovah,” [YHWH (Yahweh)] which means “the existing one,” and also in the expression “I am that I am” (Ex. 3:14), which signifies that it is God’s nature to be.”-{Simmons}
” Before the mountains were born Or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.“-{Psalm 90:2.}
” For just as the Father has life in Himself,…”-{John 5:26}
“Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.“Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. “But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.“-{Psalm 102:25-27}.
” The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;”-{Acts 17:24}
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” -{Revelation 1:8}.
He is the Self Existent One, without beginning or end. He has always been, inhabiting eternity. As Self Existent, He alone is, He does not pass it on to anyone or share with anyone, just like, His Omnipresence, Omniscient, Omniscient, it is unique to Him! He is in need of nothing or no one in creation while we are in need of Him for our very existence, sustenance. We are dependent upon Him, “For in Him we live and move and exist….”-{Acts 17:28}. While He is independent of all except Himself. There is no other source for His existence or sustenance outside of Himself! He is complete within the Godhead, Satisfied, Jesus said, “Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world began.” -{John 17:5}. “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.“-{Colossians 1:15-17}
As Self-Existent, He is in a different”sphere, orbit” in comparison to His Creation. He is totally unique, superior, life sustaining, life giving, life taking in His creation, who are dependent upon Him, helpless apart from Him, cannot come into being or exist without Him! God reminds Job just how different they are when He asks him, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?” -{Job 38:4-5}.
He Is Self-Existent, Self- Sufficient, All-Sufficient, eternally so, is the “LORD GOD!” God Has No Needs!-{Psalm 50}… Worship, “Praise Him…Sing Praises to the LORD, our Self- Sufficient…God! -{Psalm 147:1}
PRAISE The LORD, Sing Praises to our God …for His Great Existence!

Great in Power,…Praise Him!
Consider Him and some manifestations of His power…
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power;” -{v 5}
Note the difference from the way “LORD” is all capped in verse 1 where here it is spelled differently,”Lord,” The difference is the first spelling is of the Hebrew word “Yahwah” the self existent One, the second is the people afraid to take the LORD’S name in vain substituted it with the second “Lord” which is the Hebrew word “Adonai” which speaks of Owner, Master. And we see that the Lord has Absolute Power! He is GREAT…and His POWER is GREAT! He is abounding in strength, power.
GOD’S POWER IS ABSOLUTE; “Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God;” -{Psalm 62:11}.
CREATIVE POWER; “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”-{Romans 1:20}
DELIVERING POWER; ” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the Lord swept them into the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived. But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.”-{Exodus 14:26-31}.
REIGNING POWER; “He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. “-{Luke 1:52}. ” I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. “-{Revelation 1:18}
SAVING POWER; “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”-{Romans 1:16}
FORGIVING POWER – “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”-{Colossians 1:13-14}
INDWELLING POWER– “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, ” -{Ephesians 3:20}
POWER TO CHANGE US – “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” -{Phil 2:13 nlt}
SUSTAINING POWER; “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22}. “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” -{1 Cor 2:5}”
RESURRECTION POWER; “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,” -{1 Cor 6:14}.
PRAISE The LORD, Sing Praises to our God…for His Great Power!

Great in Understanding…Praise Him!
Since He is Self-Existent, in need of nothing or no one outside of Himself, He needs no one of His creation to inform Him, to impart knowledge, wisdom that He does not possess. If that was true then He would not be perfect but that one area would make Him deficient and in need of someone or something to help, aid Him, and this is not so, for He is the “LORD, GOD!”
“For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”-{Romans 11:34-36}
UNLIMITED UNDERSTANDING;” Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. “-{Isaiah 40:28}
PEOPLE LACK UNDERSTANDING;” They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.”-{Ephesians 4:18}
UNDERSTANDING TO KNOW HIM; Jesus came because we lacked understanding, and He has it and imparted it to us, ” We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true...” -{1 John 5:20}
UNDERSTANDING THROUGH THE SPIRIT; “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,”-{Colossians 1:9}
PEACE THAT SURPASSES UNDERSTANDING; “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -{Philippians 4:7}.
He who lacks no understanding in Great Mercy gives us Understanding to Know Him, By His Spirit and gifts us peace that surpasses all understanding because it is not human manufactured but God initiated, gifted, un-explainable apart from Him and sufficient, to meet us! God’s Understanding is Great and incalculable because we are finite and limited and He is Infinite and unlimited . What we do need to know He gifts us that understanding in His Word, disclosed to us by His Spirit!
PRAISE The LORD, Sing Praises to our God …for His Great Understanding!
“Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable.“-{Psalm 145:3 }. His greatness is unsearchable, beyond what anyone can understand. He is Higher than our Highest thought, greater than all minds combined, we have not even touched the hem of His garment in regards How Great HE Is! But for the Word of God and the Spirit of God to open our minds to help us understand we would be creating “gods of our own imagination, as some do today!- {Read Romans 1:18-21}. Praise Him for HIS Great mercy that He has made it possible we know Him…better…and better and the better we know Him, the lower we go in humility in consideration, contemplation, and celebration of the LORD who is Great and Greatly to be Praised!
