“Praise the LORD…for His Greatness!”

“Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
His understanding has no limit.”-{Psalm 147:1,5}. He is…

Great in Existence,…Praise Him!

““In the beginning, God” (Gen. 1:1). There was a time, if “time” it should be called, when God, in the unity of His nature (though subsisting equally in three Divine Persons), dwelt all alone. … There was no heaven, where His glory is now particularly manifested. There was no earth to engage His attention. There were no angels to hymn His praises; no universe to be upheld by the word of His power. There was nothing, no one, but God; and that, not for a day, a year, or an age, but “from everlasting.” During a past eternity, God was alone: self-contained, self-sufficient, self-satisfied; in need of nothing. Had a universe, had angels, had human beings been necessary to Him in any way, they also had been called into existence from all eternity. The creating of them when He did, added nothing to God essentially. He changes not (Mal. 3:6), therefore His essential glory can be neither augmented nor diminished.

God is under no constraint, no obligation, no necessity to create. That He chose to do so was purely a sovereign act on His part, caused by nothing outside Himself, determined by nothing but His own mere good pleasure; for He “worketh all things after the counsel of His own will” (Eph. 1:11). [Pink, 9-10]”-{AW Pink.}

The word “LORD” in Psalm 147:1 is “Yahwah” which is the name of God and speaks of His self- existence as in Exodus 3:10-15, “Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”  But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?”  And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.”  Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.’” God, furthermore, said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.”

” “I AM…”  “This name contains each tense of the verb “to be,” and it might be translated I was, I am, and I shall always continue to be. The words express unchanging and eternal being. In the text they simply declare God to be self-existent, self-sufficient, and all-sufficient being.”-{Cockrell.}

“…The root of this name means “self-existing,” one who never came into being, and one who always will be. When Moses asked God, “Who shall I tell Pharaoh has sent me?” God said, “I AM THAT I AM.” Jehovah or Yahweh  “-{Adrian Rogers}

“God’s being is underived. He is a self-caused existence. His existence is independent of everything else. The self-existence of God in implied in the name “Jehovah,” [YHWH (Yahweh)] which means “the existing one,” and also in the expression “I am that I am” (Ex. 3:14), which signifies that it is God’s nature to be.”-{Simmons}.

Before the mountains were born Or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.“-{Psalm 90:2.}

” For just as the Father has life in Himself,…”-{John 5:26}

“Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.“Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.“-{Psalm 102:25-27}.

The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; “–{Acts 17:24,25}

” Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, From everlasting even to everlasting. “-{1 Chron 16:36}

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” -{Revelation 1:8}.

He is the Self Existent One, without beginning or end. He has always been, inhabiting eternity. As Self Existent, He alone is, He does not pass it on to anyone or share with anyone, just like, His Omnipresence, Omniscient, Omniscient, it is unique to Him! He is in need of no thing or no one in creation while we are in need of Him for our very existence, sustenance. He is independent, of everything and everyone, He is not dependent on anything or anyone, nor governed nor controlled by anything or anyone outside of Himself. He is totally independent, self- sufficient and All sufficient! This can only be said, and applied of to God Himself!

We are dependent upon Him, “For in Him we live and move and exist….”-{Acts 17:28}. While  He is independent of all except Himself. There is no other source for His existence or sustenance outside of Himself! He is complete within the Godhead, Satisfied, Jesus said, “Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world began.” -{John 17:5}. “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.“-{Colossians 1:15-17}.”For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”-{Romans 11:34-36}.

As Self-Existent, He is in a different”sphere, orbit” in comparison to His Creation. He is totally unique, superior, life sustaining, life giving, life taking His creation, who are dependent upon Him, helpless apart from Him, cannot come into being or exist without Him! God reminds Job just how different they are when He asks him, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?” -{Job 38:4-5}.

God Has No Needs!-{Psalm 50}

He Is Self-Existent, Self- Sufficient, All Sufficient, eternally so, is the “LORD GOD!” Worship, “Praise Him…Sing Praises to Our Self-Sufficient LORD …our God!” -{Psalm 147:1}
