Temptation is to be expected, you never outgrow it, you are never so “spiritually mature” that you are “above” temptation, if anything you become more dependent upon the LORD and less trust in your own Self and supposed “resources,” to handle temptation. We need Him and always shall, as long as we have breath.
The type of temptation may change… but temptations will remain. –{Read 1 Corinthians 10:1-12 and note the different types of temptations}
“But God…” God is Faithful, and this extends to our times of Temptations, as subtle or fierce, relentless as they may be…
Consider…in 1 Corinthians 10:13 these 4 aspects as
God’s Faithfulness overflows…in our time of temptation…to Protect, Provide, Empower…
1.- GOD IS FAITHFUL- To PROTECT –
“…Who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are Able…”
God will never put you in a situation where the only way out is to sin against Him as a means to escape. He will provide “THE” way out of “THE” specific temptation that Honors Him as you choose to follow His means!
He is Sovereign. He is in control and He who is faithful has spoken and cannot lie!
2.-God is FAITHFUL- To PROVIDE –
“…will Provide THE Way Of Escape…” “With “THE” specific temptation God provided “THE” Specific way of escape so you and i do not have to sin against God.
3.- God Is FAITHFUL- To EMPOWER –
“… So that you will BE ABLE to ENDURE it.” God will never put us in a place where we have no escape where we have to sin against Him in the situation.
4.- God is FAITHFUL- TO KEEP HIS PROMISE!-
To Keep THIS PROMISE in 1 Cor 10:13
- We experience His Protection, Provision, Power as we APPLY His Word, trusting Him in times of opposition, and temptation.
We experience His victory as we encounter opposition such as when tempted, THROUGH His Spirit empowering, and Applying His Word -{Read Phil 2:13; 2 Peter 1:3-4}!
- Temptation’s goal is not to bring you closer to our LORD Jesus or Honor Him but to dishonor Him by tempting you to choose to sin against Him!
What is meant for evil- to sin against God, God works “all things” including temptations for “good” as He provides for us His Plan and Power for us to know Him better, develop our faith by clinging to Him and His Promise and applying it in our times of temptations!
But what if we have yielded to the temptation and failed to follow His pattern for us as in 1 Cor 10:13?
We can acknowledge our sin to God, turn from it to Him, and learn from it, and thank God for His mercy and grace and love of God we can begin afresh because of the sacrifice of our LORD Jesus on our behalf!
Be encouraged, hide this verse in your heart, and share it with others so they may be built up and know they too have the faithfulness of God to protect, provide, and empower them in times of temptation!
What do you KNOW FOR CERTAIN from His Word when Temptations come? You are not on your own, It is not unique to you, and that “… GOD IS FAITHFUL!”
YOU HAVE HIM! YOU HAVE HIS PROMISE;
In the storms of life and temptations, we need an “Anchor” and God’s Faithfulness is such an anchor of HOPE to us in times of Temptations. Look away and consider Him and His Faithfulness, who gives the PROMISE of Protection, Provision and Power for you so you need not sin against Him when tempted!! –
WHEN TEMPTED- remind Yourself, “I Have a PROMISE- And The PROMISE KEEPER!” –
“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”-{1 Cor 10:13}.
