GROWING WEARY?

Paul prays for such in Ephesians 3:16-21.

That they would be…

1.- Inwardly strengthened by the Holy Spirit.- {v 6}

2.- Christ at home in your heart. -{v 17}

3.- Comprehend the LOVE of God.-{v18}

4.- Experientially KNOW His love for you! -{v19}

5. – God Be Glorified- {v21}

Perhaps it’s not you who are growing weary but do you know someone who is? Then model your prayer on Paul’s prayer for them.

Familiarize yourself with Paul’s prayers to aid you in your praying…

If you are praying for someone, personalize it by replacing the words “you, yours” with the person’s name

  • “May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality], 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been [deeply] rooted and [securely] grounded in love, 18 be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the width and length and height and depth of His love [fully experiencing that amazing, endless love]; 19 and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].-{Ephesians 3:16-19}

Note the “Hope” in verses 20,

That “GOD IS ABLE TO DO ABUNDANTLY MORE THAN ALL WE DARE ASK OR THINK ” He can do way beyond what we can ask or think for He is God and He is able and to be able to commit ourselves, loved ones, others to Him is a wonderful, comforing truth knowing He has the ability and heart to do what is best and glorifies Him and He decide what that is.

He has the power to answer our prayers and this He does according to His will. -{v 20}.

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,..”-{v 20 Amplified Bible}. “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”-{1 John 5:14-15}

For the weary in this prayer He gives us an outline to pattern our prayers to Him. Be encouraged. God is able!

Be a part of someone’s life for their spiritual benefit,

Paul was in Prison and the people were “weary,” disheartened because of his suffering.-{v 13}. And note his response is to pray for them! He was “shut in” prison but not “shut out” from speaking to God on their behalf and he “reaches out” through a letter to encourage them and specifically let them know what he is praying to God for them!

You may be “shut in” by circumstances but you are not “shut out” from speaking to God on behalf of others, and you can “reach out” to let them know what you are specifically praying for them…

Who can you “reach out” to today to let them know what you are specifically praying for them.

Note also, in verse 21, the goal is God to be glorified!

Could you pray Ephesians 3:16-21 as outlined.

That they would be…

1.- Inwardly strengthened by the Holy Spirit.- {v 6}

2.- Christ at home in your heart. -{v 17}

3.- Comprehend the LOVE of God.-{v18}

4.- Experientially KNOW His love for you! -{v19}

5.– God Be Glorified -{v 21}

  • “Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
