The “Lord,” is “GREAT,”

” Praise the LORD, For it is good to sing praises to our God;
For it is pleasant and praise is becoming…

Great is our Lord and abundant in strength;
His understanding is infinite.“-{Psalm 147:5}

The Psalmist rally’s the people to “Praise, boast in the LORD,..Sing His Praises,” and he says to do so is “good..,pleasant..,  becoming{beautiful}…” And one  aspect for His praise is His “Greatness!” He goes onto recount His greatness in restoring the city, bringing home the “outcasts,”-{v2}, Healing the “broken-hearted.”-{v3} “Binding up their wounds”-{v 3}; and Supporting the “afflicted”-{v6}. He is great in Compassion; His intervention and intimacy and care, concern, compassion. He is Great in Creation; “He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.”-{v4}. “God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.”-{Genesis 1:16}.

The “Lord is GREAT!”  He is “the Great God”-{Neh 8:6}; “You are Great and Do Wondrous things, You alone are God.”-{Psalm 86:10}; “For I know that the Lord is great And that our Lord is above all gods.”-{Psalm 135:5}; “For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.”-{Psalm 96:4}. He is “Great,” does “wondrous things,” He alone is God, and HE is greatly to be praised!

He is “Great in Mercy,”- {1 Kings 3;6 };

“He is “Great in Goodness,”- { Nehemiah 9:25}

He is “Great in Compassion, – {Isaiah 54:7};

He is “Great in His Works,”…”Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure His greatness. “-{Psalm 145:3 nlt}.

“He does great things too marvelous to understand. He performs countless miracles.”-{Job 5:9}.

Great are the works of the LordThey are studied by all who delight in them.“- {Psalm 111:2}.

“The LORD is slow to anger and great in Power, And the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet.“-{Nahum 1:3}.

“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. “-{Isaiah 40:26}.

His Great power, might to create, to sustain, to number and name stars, to heal the broken- hearted, to save souls. His Power is Great. Great to create, Great in judgement, as in the days of Noah and Pharaoh’s army, and none had the power to stop Him. Great in deliverance. Great in Mercy, compassion, Great to “..Heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds.”-{Psalm 147:3}.

“GREAT is the Lord!”  “Praise the LORD,… sing Praises to our God!”

The word “Praise ” in Psalm 147:1 means “to boast in, to praise,” it is a command and a verb, which means it is to be continuous. Contemplating, Celebrating The LORD, for one aspect of His Being, He is Great and Does Great things!

1.-Look again at the above verses and characteristics, manifestations of His Greatness…, and use to Praise Him throughout your day or night, and when you pray.

2. – Personalize the verses  so as you praise Him you may something like this, “LORD I Praise You for Your Great Mercy… LORD I Praise You for Your Great Works…LORD I Praise You for Your Great Goodness…, LORD I Praise You for Your Great Power!…”etc…

3. – Take Psalm 147:5 and Memorize. Perhaps write it down and throughout the day look at it and word for word, MEDITATE upon and APPLY it by choosing to Praise Him. And the Holy Spirit can recall to you when needed.

4. -And also to do as the Psalmist does and encourage others by reminding them of HIS GREATNESS in order to “PRAISE THE LORD!” You never read, memorize or meditate on His Word just for you, but also to aid others.{Read Ezra 7:10; this verse is manifested in Nehemiah 8 when he was called on to share and help the people understand the Scriptures.}

“Praise the LORD for.. Great is Our LORD in abundant in strength!”-{Psalm 147:1,5}
