Doubts about God and His Word are deceptive, demoralizing and spiritually dangerous for you and me. In the verses below you will see Doubts about the LORD, His Word are not isolated, they are accompanied by various emotions, attitudes and acts.  Consider four such fruits of Doubts such as…

1.- Anxiety-

But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do the serving [b]by myself? Then tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; but only one thing is necessary; for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” {Luke 10:40-42}

2.- Fearfulness

”On that day, when evening came, He *said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side.” After dismissing the crowd, they *took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And a fierce gale of wind *developed, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling with water. And yet Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they *woke Him and *said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who, then, is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” -{Mark 4:35-41}

3.- Despondency

“But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. But also some women among us left us bewildered. When they were at the tomb early in the morning, and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive. And so some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.” And then He said to them, “You foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to come into His glory?” Then beginning with Moses and with all the Prophets, He explained to them the things written about Himself in all the Scriptures.”{Read Luke 24:21-27}

4.- Instability

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that person ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”–{ James 1:6-8}.

Who would volunteer to embrace such a life of ANXIETY, FEARFULNESS, DESPONDENCY, INSTABILITY, but many of us do. Why? We choose to believe our doubts as truth and doubt God as un-True!

IT TAKES FAITH TO COMMIT, SUBMIT AND OBEY YOUR DOUBTS!

It takes faith to believe doubts about God, His character, promises, Word, will and ways. It takes disobedience to His Word to believe so. It is to say – “He may even mean well, but He cannot be trusted.”

What Doubts are you embracing , meditating upon and submitting and committing to?

The Alternative?

Believe God and Submit, commit, obey and take Him at His Word!

You have to guard your heart, your thought life, this is why it is imperative to fill your mind with the Word of God so as to think through the lens of Scripture aligning your thinking so as to guide your choices in alliance with His revealed will, ways, and promise, as you continue to gain  a deeper relatioship and true knowledge of God.

RECOGNIZE and take the doubts captive and examine them in the light of Scripture and then REPLACE with His Word and REPEAT as often as a doubt seeks to destabilize you spiritually! How can you RECOGNIZE and DISCERN doubts that are often subtle? Philippians 4:8 is a good verse to memorize and examine each thought through its lens. ” Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”-{Proverbs 4:23 NLLT}

Aidan.
