Consider, contemplate Our LORD Jesus Christ! He was a Man of sorrow acquainted with Grief, He understands the depths of your suffering and pain, and as Risen LORD seated in Majesty on High, adored and worshipped in purity and perfection in Heaven, yet He has not forgotten you in your trials, troubles, temptations, or deep deep sadness or suffering. For He bids, you come confidently to the Throne of Grace to RECEIVE Mercy, Grace, and Help in your time of need. {Please read Heb 4:15-16}. And He who gave His life for you supplies the Holy Spirit to impart Joy to you in the midst of your pain, when no one sees the suffering or sadness, He does and He cares. He is not asking for superficial “joy” let’s “pretend” you are not in real deep deep pain, to be expressed in front of others, as though you or others are not in real pain, but He promises His Spirit which each follower of the LORD Jesus Christ possesses to give you reasons and the ability to rejoice as we submit to Him and contemplate the Person of our LORD God, His PROMISES and the assurance that even these things in His providence He will bring “good” out of them as He conforms us to the image of our LORD Jesus. There is no sorrow, or suffering, wasted in His care.
“SORROW”
The word Paul uses for sorrow speaks of dee[ grief! The word lypéō (from “deep grief”) – to experience deep, emotional pain (sadness), i.e. severe sorrow (grief). (lypéō) is very intense and hence even used of the pain of childbirth.” –{Helps word studies}. That is the fact. This sorrow is deep emotional pain, suffering and yet we see God meet His child with the ability to “always rejoice…”
The pain of humanity and the power of God intevening in the midst giving His child the gift of Joy and reasons to rejoice because He is the Object ultimately of their joy in the midst of deep deep suffering!
“REJOICING”
“xaírō (from the root xar-, “favorably disposed, leaning towards” and cognate with 5485 /xáris, “grace”) – properly, to delight in God’s grace (“rejoice”) – literally, to experience God’s grace (favor), be conscious (glad) for His grace.
5463 /xaírō (“glad for grace”) “joy” “grace” are cognate with “to rejoice”, i.e. all share the same root and therefore the same core (fundamental) meaning.”-{Helps Word studies}
Rejoicing in the CONSCIOUS FAVOR, KINDNESS, EMPOWERING GRACE OF GOD!
CONSIDER SOME EXAMPLES OF THE UNMERITED, UNEARNED GRACE OF GOD TOWARDS US.THAT FAVOR, KINDNESS, EMPOWERING TO KNOW HIM, HIS WILL.,,, AND SO IT SUCH AS…
1.- His Grace that SAVES us -“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [a]this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”-{Ephesians 2:8-9}
2, -His Grace that is SUPERABOUNDS over our sin- “The Law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
3, -His Grace that is SOVEREIGN– It REIGNS -“21 so that, as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”-{Romans 5:21}.
4. -His Grace that STRENGTHENS us to Serve – “You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
5. -His Grace That is SUFFICIENT in times of SUFFERING- ” “Concerning this I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might leave me. And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”{2 Cor 12:8-9}
6.-His Grace SATISFIES us In the midst of Suffering . The word used for “sufficient” in 2 Corinthians 12:9 implies SATISFACTION… He Himself SATISFIES the wounded, hurting suffering follower of Christ…
And as a result… notice Paul’s response to the news, the information that the LORD Himself would be Paul’s sufficiency -“Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I DELIGHT in weaknesses, in insults, in distresses, in persecutions, in difficulties, in behalf of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.”-{2 Corinthains 12:9-10}.
Paul’s “delight” is not in his pain but in THE LORD Who will meet him in the midst of great pain and suffering with… HIMSELF. Sufficent Grace, Power in his weakness, indeed he saw his weakness as an opportunity for the power of God to be unleashed in and through him… as it is for you dear suffering soul! You have not been abandoned in your sorrow’s or suffering, for He Himself who has promised never to leave or abandon you will meet you with Grace to rejoice, sustain and glory in Him as you testify again how He has met you!!
- His Joy strengthens us! {Nehemiah 8:10}
Amidst the sorrow as distressing as it can be God will supernaturally meet you with His Joy, deep down in your heart knowing He is in control, He will work it all out for good, and that understand that sorrow has a “shelf life.” It will end one day forever, as you will again by His grace as a followe of Christ enter into His presence where there is fulness of Joy and pleasure forever more! –“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of Your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”-{Psalm 16:11 nlt}
There is a supernatural joy, gladness of heart, given by the Holy Spirit to His people as we submit to Him and His Word.
God Bless,
Aidan.
