First they find “no water,” and then when they do, it is “bitter,” undrinkable. The people turned on Moses and “complained against Moses saying’What shall we drink?” They had just seen the LORD God do a might deed in deliverance and like us…how quickly we forget. We Forget what is behind us, like these people they forgot they had just come “from The Red Sea!” God had made Himself known and manifested a “Mighty Deed!” They had come to another test of faith, and they failed, they forgot to remember the LORD!
They TURNED ON MOSES rather than TURNING TO The LORD! But Moses did not TURN ON THEM, But he TURNED to the LORD, and “he cried out to the LORD…” Because the majority turn away from the LORD and turn on you to pressure you be it peer pressure or to blame you, see it as an OPPORTUNITY, your opportunity to TURN TO THE LORD and speak to Him!
Moses TURNED TO THE LORD, and the LORD showed him what to do. How quickly, approachable, accommodating He was and is! Despite their forgetting Him, He had not forgot them… and in the next moment of test as it was for Moses, he had learned a valuable lesson, “TURN TO THE LORD” and speak and trust Him! And He again met and showed Himself through another “Mighty Deed,” so they could learn to trust Him who is trustworthy!
In time of testing, Don’t FORGET To REMEMBER His past faithfulness, as a means to strengthen your faith to focus on him and to trust, rely upon Him!! And one way we can do so, is to recall His past faithfulness, and meditate upon His intervention, the event and what He did and continue to PRAISE THE LORD… So, when the test comes again, you have your mind, focus, and faith fixed on Him with whom you have been communicating regularly with!
Building your faith comes one test at a time, the test to trust Him or not? It is built on the foundation of His Word that declares Him for who He is and in remembering His past faithfulness is not only fuel for our faith and praise for our lips!
1. In time of Testing Moses TURNED To The LORD
2.In time of Testing, beware, know your tendency and the temptation and … Do Not TURN on the people! We can learn from Moses when time of testing come that we do not turn on one another, grumbling, complaining, strife, but we turn to the LORD and look to Him for His answer!
3. In time of Testing, REMEMBER the LORD’S Past Faithfulness! And the way to do that is to have been thinking on Him, meditating upon Him, His Word, praising Him continually!
How Gracious the LORD, again he did a “Mighty Deed,” and those who had not turned to Him, benefited because one man had!
