REMEMBERING;
“Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah. He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the LORD has helped us!” -{1 Samuel 7:22}
THE BACKGROUND;
…Is How the LORD delivered God’s people from the Philistines and HELPED them in their hour of Trouble. And so as to REMIND themselves Samuel placed a large Stone, so upon seeing it, they could remember and also Remind others of what THE LORD HAD DONE. They Testified to… HIM!
REMEMBER;
ASK Him to Help you remember how He has shown His help to you in the past and REMEMBER, as HE Has BEEN, He IS and WILL be- Faithful HELPER, Deliverer!… THANK AND PRAISE HIM… hitherto- The LORD has been our help!-It is good to look back to see HIM, and how He has circumstanced life and intervened in specific ways to make Himself known to you…
It is easy to allow the evil one to inject a thought into our thinking as he reminds us of a past sin, failure and then for us to choose to dwell there which inevitable causes us to turn inward, away from Him and into despair and miss living in the “now” with hope, but instead with hopelessness. “BUT GOD….” has provided us with GOOD TESTIMONY for us to think BACK on of His Deliverance’s, Help, Faithfulness! The Psalmist said,”surely Goodness and mercy shall ” what? “…PURSUE me all the days of my life.” David looked back and saw HIM- His provision of,”Goodness and Mercy.” Yes, we look back to HIM and draw strength from of old, His faithfulness as in the lives of Hebrews 11 who lived not flawless, or sinless, but the bent of their lives by faith and HE WAS FAITHFUL to them and is the same today as He was yesterday and as He will be forever… TAKE Courage and hope.
If looking in your past does not lead and leave you with HIM, you are looking through the wrong lens… Look back and see His faithfulness and tell others for you have a story to tell and A SAVIOR to POINT To…
Our second youngest Evan and Julia Grace married yesterday, I was not able to attend but this morning reminded of the above verse and looking back at sweet times I had with EVAN over the years and it was GOOD to think on HIM AND HIS PROVISIONS of such times ….I sent him this verse and how I was praying for him and Julia Grace and that in time as they look back they can say “hitherto the LORD has been our HELP.”
Come, thou Fount of every blessing
“Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount I’m fixed upon it
mount of God’s redeeming love.
2 Here I find my greatest treasure;
hither by thy help I’ve come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
bought me with his precious blood.
3 Oh, to grace how great a debtor
daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee:
prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here’s my heart, O take and seal it;
seal it for thy courts above. “-
