- Some thoughts to encourage you:
“Casting all of your cares/ anxieties upon Him for He cares for you.”– 1 Peter 5:7
To hold onto one care is one too many and denies that He cares for you
It is to say I can handle this myself
I cannot trust Him with this
I don’t believe He cares for me
If it is a “care” He tells us what to do with it… cast it upon Him…He is more than willing to take it…carry it and handle it.
Its spiritual insanity not to
He does care for you
He does know about your cares
He does tell you what to do with each and every SINGLE care
“CASTING” THE WORD WAS USED OF THROWING SOMETHING ON SOMETHING ELSE. It was used of throwing a blanket on a donkey or horse for example.
So, Peter says “Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God..” How? By throwing your “anxieties” on the LORD. What are anxieties? Those things which divide your mind from devotion to the Lord. The things that weigh you down, distractions, questioning, despair and discouraging thoughts.
“Anxiety in the heart weighs it down”
… Proverbs 12:25 the writer wrote “But a good word makes it glad” -he went on to say. What’s a “good word?” Peter gives you and me the answer in this verse… to cast our anxieties upon the Lord for HE CARES FOR YOU, this is “a good word” to THINK on and ACT UPON! Carrying our anxieties is “heavy” and wearying and this verse says we were never meant to do so. The Bible compares His people to sheep- and sheep were never meant to carry burdens- not even ONE.
It is time to hand it over- no -Throw it off you and onto Him who really cares for YOU!-1 Peter 5: 7…ONE BY ONE THROW IT UPON HIM WHO cares for you! What a “GOOD WORD,” FOR YOU. By FAITH take that which is weighing you down and causing you distress, so tell Him about it and Tell Him you are giving it to Him to carry for you. What if it comes back to mind and a young believer asked me. I REFUSE to entertain it, or embrace it but REBEL by saying in faith,”NO, I HAVE GIVEN THAT TO THE LORD I REFUSE TO ENTERTAIN OR GIVE ENERGY OF THOUGHT TO IT,” and instead concentrate on the “good word,” HE CARES FOR ME, I do not need to carry it anymore- I PRAISE HIM who CARES FOR ME!”
NOW THE CHOICE?
To believe Him or not that He does care for you. The evidence you believe Him? By faith cast ALL of your cares upon Him, THINK of the anxiety. By Faith TELL HIM you are THROWING IT upon Him, and LEAVE it up to Him to carry it.
“Blessed be the LORD who DAILY bears our burdens…”- Psalm 68:19.
PRAISE THE LORD. SPEAK WELL OF HIM, BLESS HIM. WHY? BECAUSE he DAILY BEARS YOUR BURDENS. You were not meant to have your mind distracted,, filled with anxieties, have your mind divided and weighed down by troubles, the “what if’s,” and it is needles when you have the LORD who is willing, able and does carry ALL burdens . Your part is to throw them on Him. HOW? Tell Him what worries you, THROW by faith upon Him one by one and LEAVE them with Him.
“WHAT HAPPENS IF IT COMES BACK TO YOUR MIND,”
A young believer asked me. A good question! If the thought comes back REFUSE TO EMBRACE IT BUT STAND FAST, STAND FIRM- REFUSE TO ALLOW it to take your mind captive and dominate your thinking! How? REBEL! REBEL AGAINST THE TEMPTATION to sin against the CHARACTER OF GOD THAT HE DOES CARE FOR YOU by embracing anxieties, cares when you have ALREADY GIVEN them all to Him. So a thought comes back you could say something like,”NO I refuse to embrace, entertain that thought again I have already given it to the LORD who is faithful and cares for me and forbids me from carrying it. Instead I WILL CHOOSE TO “BLESS THE LORD WHO DAILY BEARS MY BURDENS!” And REPLACE the thoughts with TRUTH and THINK On His Promises. Such as…
The Promise Of PEACE Through Prayer;
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -{Phil 4:6-7}.
The Promise Of POWER;
” I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” -{Phil 4:13}.
The Promise Of PROVISION;
“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”-{Phil 4:19}.
The Promise Of His Permanent PRESENCE;
“I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,” -{Heb 13:5}.
