If we chose not to capture the destructive “thought” that the enemy brings to our mind that attacks the character of God to us, slandering Him through doubts about Him the trustworthiness of His Word, and replace it with God’s Truth we open ourselves up to the bombardment of the evil one’s condemnation, accusations, lies, discouragement, deception, seeking to separate you in your thinking from the truth about God and who He says we are as a follower of Christ, as those who are “in Christ.” And often spiritual and emmotional instability follows, doublemindedness, doubts, lack of assurance regarding your salvation, God’s trustworthiness, and as you see the spiraling down into despair, hopelesness, anxiety and fear riddled often follows as a result.

And these and more such like them a result of us having failed to guard our minds and put on “the helmet of salvation.” Ephesian 6:17- “instructs us to put on the whole armor of God and to “take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” When a soldier suited up for battle, the helmet was the last piece of armor to go on. It was the final act of readiness in preparation for combat. A helmet was vital for survival, protecting the brain, the command station for the rest of the body. If the head was badly damaged, the rest of the armor would be of little use.”-{gotquestions.com}.

The enemy cannot have our soul, having no claim to us as Romans 6:10; 8:2 1 Corinthians 1:18 testify, BECAUSE  of the work of the LORD Jesus on our behalf on that cross, His ressurection the evidence God accepted His once for all perfect sacrifice for us- you and me, what Good news the Gospel is!

 But often the believer can forget this in the”storms” and when failing to guard the mind with the truth of God’s Word when under attack and not lifting up the shield of faith and instead laying down the sword of the Spirit, which are our spiritual weapons of His Word, the truth to combat the evil foe, we have left ourselves defenseless as it were. And to do so, leaves the dear soul where they “think,” and “think” and the evil one reminds them of failure after failure, sin after sin until there is nothing for the poor soul to do but sit down in their heart in utter hopelessness and despair! They see themselves apart from the sufficient work of God on their behalf “In Christ.” Subtle but satanic the attack on the child of God. CAN YOU SEE THAT? Do you know anything of such attacks? I’m sure you do.

God tells us what to feed our minds on, “Whatever is TRUE… THINK about these things…”

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, THINK {DWELL} about these things. -{Philippians 4:8};

The word, “THINK,” is also translated  “DWELL, ”  gramtically is “KEEP DOING IT!” KEEP THINKING on “these things,”… choose to continually  think on them!

FAMILIARIZE yourself with “these things” mentioned. Meditate on this verse, fill your mind with them, phrase by phrase, choose to think on them and PRACTICE them as the habit of your life, …renewing your mind.

GUARD YOUR THOUGHT LIFE BY FEEDING IT WITH  THE WORD OF GOD AND THE “THINGS” HE SAYS TO-ONE THOUGHT AT A TIME!

Choose what you THINK on,

God bless,

Aidan.
