“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast{Exult} in the hope of the glory of God.”-{Romans 5:1-2}

Paul says “We exult in hope of the glory of God.”-{Romans 5:2}. He gives 4 reasons to exult which speak of joyful confidence. Hope speaks of certainty for the follower of Christ. It is the confident expectation of good that God has promised and will fulfill. Consider with me 4 reasons for you “In Christ” to boast, and exult in confident expectation of what God has said and promises!

We exult, glory, boast in the confident expectation in the joyful knowledge of the glory of God and eternity with Him!

4 Reasons for Strong Confidence, and assurance, to share in His glory.

Reasons to Rejoice and how to know you will share in His glory with Him for eternity…

  1. Justified by Faith.- v1- God has declared you right before Him forever! It is a one-time unchanging everlasting declaration by God! It is not based on your performance but on the perfect, sinless sacrifice of the LORD Jesus Christ as your Substitute to satisfy God’s perfect standard of righteousness, Holiness. “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”-{2 Corinthians 5:21 nlt}
  2. Peace with God.– v1– This is not speaking of the “peace OF God” which Philippians 4:6 refers to for the follower of Christ but note it says “peace WITH God!” It is speaking of the “war.” What war? The non-believer is at war with God. Romans 5:10 says we were “ENEMIES” and Philippians 3:18 Paul says “many walk {live} who are ENEMIES of The cross of Christ.” “Do you not know that being the world’s friend [that is, loving the things of the world] is being GOD’S ENEMY? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world makes himself an ENEMY OF GOD.”-{James 4:4 Amplified Bible}. And God is at war with sinners. He is angry with the wicked every day. “But God..,” can declare us right in His sight and treat us so having forgiven us ALL our sins because Christ stood in our place bearing the wrath of God for us. “For if, while we were GOD’S ENEMIES, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved SAVED THROUGH HIS LIFE!”-{Romans 5:10}

On the cross, God treated JESUS as if He were you, and now looks at you and treats you as if you were His Son because of His righteousness to your life, as it were, clothed in the righteousness of Christ- “But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,”-{1 Cor 1:30}-Here is reason for you to BOAST, GLORY, and EXULT in joyful confidence and expectation because of the Hope, the certainty in Him- His justifying you brings!

3. Stand in Grace.– v2- You no longer stand afar off from God. You no longer stand in condemnation before God and an eternity in Hell awaiting you. But you stand in the grace of God, It is a permanent unchanging stand, You stand in the Favor of God, fully accepted by God both now and for all eternity. As one writer says you stand with “the smile of God upon you!” It is a new position you have before God. You stand in Divine favor. You were saved by the Grace of God- Eph 2:8-9 and now a new standing before God not as a sinner but as He says a “saint” one who has been set apart by God and for God. Now a child of God! Here too is another reason for your confidence and boast!

What God has done cannot be undone- He has justified you! Feast on that! 

4. Through A Person– “…Through our LORD Jesus Christ.”- v1- And how do these blessings, reasons for confident assurance come to you and I and all who are born again by God’s Spirit? “Through our LORD Jesus Christ.” It is not through the political power of the Ceasar’s of Paul’s day, nor through the religious of that day with all their sacrifices and manmade rules but note the exclusivity in which He declares it is “THROUGH” and only “THROUGH ” or LORD Jesus Christ! It is all “through ” our LORD JESUS CHRIST, who is not “A” WAY “OR “A TRUTH ‘ OR A” LIFE ” but “THE Way; THE Truth, THE Life. -{Read John 14:6} The EXCLUSIVITY of our LORD Jesus to get to God, be accepted by God, forgiven by God, a new standing before God! There is no other Name by which we must and can be saved-{Read Acts 4:12}. “For there is one God and ONE MEDIATOR between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,”-{1 Timothy 2:5}. Again note the exclusivity of the LORD Jesus. Though many claim to be mediators or point to statue’s etc. There is But One that God accepts and that is His Son, our LORD Jesus Christ. And every knee shall bow and tongue confess that JESUS CHRIST is LOR to the Glory of God the Father!-{Read Philippians 2:11}

Here then are 4 reasons for you to have joyful, confident assurance of sharing eternity with God.–

  • God Justified you.
  • God made peace with you.
  • God has set you standing in grace, how?
  • “THROUGH our LORD JESUS CHRIST!”- To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

GOD DID IT!

Rejoice in God that He who has done these things on your behalf will bring you safely Home to be with Him so we can exult in the hope of future glory to be with Him. Look to hide these truths in your heart, and praise Him in your praying for each of these four blessings and look to share with another brother or sister to encourage them and also as a means to offer those without CHRIST what hope can be found in Him!
