The psalmist not only says it is “good” that he was “afflicted” but attributed the Source to God! And gives the reason why he could say “it is good” and that God was the Source because of Where and to Whom it led him to – God’s Word and ultimately God Himself.

In his affliction, the value of God’s Word to him was expressed, “The law from Your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.”-(v72)

The afflictions that narrow our focus and lead and leave us with a hunger, desire, and affection for God’s Word and knowing God more intimately, as hard, difficult, and painful as the affliction may be is a “ blessed affliction,” because of where and with Whom it leaves us with- God Himself!

“ It is good for me to be afflicted that I may learn Your Commandments… I know O LORD Your Judgments are righteous and In Faithfulness You afflicted me.”- Psalm 119:71,75)

God bless,
