16 DAYS OF READING TOGETHER THROUGH MARK’S GOSPEL;
I’ve been reading through the Gospel of Mark a chapter a day, and LORD willing will try to read the 16 chapters and write some notes. If you would like to join me over the next 16 days or so I’d be glad to have you join along.
Mark’s Gospel is fast-moving, from one thing to another… we see Jesus.
Three views of Jesus are put forward…of Jesus in Mark.
- Delusional.-{2:7; 3:21}
- Demonized.-{3:22}
- Divine -{1:1;27-28}
Mark’s Gospel is the shortest of the Gospels. Mark records more of Jesus’ Miracles than His messages. Mark doesn’t mention the genealogy of Jesus but goes straight into who He is and shines a light on His Public Ministry. Jesus is seen in Mark’s gospel as The SERVANT! Marke shows Him serving people throughout the Gospel. He came to Give His life as a sacrifice to save people in fulfilling the Father’s will for Him! He laid His life down in service. NOTE; How Jesus served in each chapter.
ASSIGNMENT AS YOU READ… LOOK OUT FOR…
1.- JESUS; As you read look out for Jesus, WHAT IS REVEALED ABOUT HIM. GATHER THAT INFORMATION AS “FUEL” FOR YOUR
A.- FAITH IN HIM… AND
B.- PRAISE OF HIM!
2.- “IMMEDIATELY;” – {Greek word “eutheos” can be translated “straight away, immediately.”}
The word is used forty- one times in Mark’s Gospel! Things move fast in Mark’s Gospel. As you read, keep an eye out for the word “immediately” and what happens when it is used. Enjoy!
HOPE; Mark was the one whom Paul rejected traveling with him due to having departed earlier.-(Read Acts 15:38}. However, they did make up for Paul wrote, “Only Luke is with me. Take along Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service.”-{2 Timothy 4:11}
In Colossians 4 we see MARK was one of the few whom Paul said was an “encouragement,” some translations say “comfort to me.” -{Col 4:10-11}. The word “encouragement,” in this instance was used for a medicine that gave pain relief! Mark was such a blessing to him it was as though he was a pain reliever for him. Mark’s failure, no more than Peter’s, nor David’s didn’t disqualify from the LORD using him again, so take hope your failure, and sin will not cause God to abandon you or no longer use you. It may be in a different way but He will use you, Take Hope in Him.
How could Mark ever have thought that after Paul rejected him- and Barnabas put as it were his arm around him and encouraged him and took him with him on a mission trip would someday write a gospel of good news that would be recorded, preserved and used for centuries to benefit and influence others.
But Such is the grace, compassion, and restoration of our LORD Jesus Christ! He uses sinners, saved by grace…for those who have been “perfected” are with Him in Heaven! Mark begins the Gospel with these words, “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God,”-{Mark 1:1} He begins with Jesus, the good news about Jesus, who is God…
He begins with Jesus, the good news about Jesus, who is God…and begins in 1:2 unfolds and lays out the Deity of Christ as we read along…
God bless,
