THE AUTHORITY AND COMPASSION OF JESUS!

As I continued reading through Mark a chapter a day, I came to Chapter 5 and this chapter excited me and I sribbled down some notes and this outline which I hope you can use the outline concerning the THREE Truths which jumped out at me concerning Jesus.

1.- AUTHORITY OVER DEMONS;-{v1-20}

The first person we meet is a poor man who is tormented by many demos to such an extent that he is screaming night and day and cutting himself with a stone, and society’s answer? To chain him and shackles, surely that would stop him. But the strength of the demons would break them, The man was in torment, “But God….” Jesus arrived on the scene and was unintimidated by the demons, “legion for we are many” which inhabited the man. The demons asked for permission to go into the swine, They needed His permission. Jesus demonstrated His complete authority over them by casting them into the swine… and with that, they went over the edge to destruction. This shows the demons characteristic is to destroy where Jesus came to impart life… and He has the Authority to DELIVER from “Legions” of demons that the man could not and society’s best to chain him could not!”Every knee shall bow…” to Him! {Read Mark 5:1-20}

2.- AUTHORITY OVER DISEASE;-{v21-34}

Jairus a synagogue official came to Jesus and fell at His feet imploring Him to come and lay His hands on his daughter who was at the point of death…

At this point the woman who had suffered  with a hemmorage for twelve years “…and had enduresd much ar the hands of many physicians, and had spent all she had and was not helped at all, but instead had become worse -after hearing about Jesus, shecame up in the crowd behind Him and touhed His cloak. For she had been saying to herself, “If I just touch the hem of His garments, I will get well.” And IMMEDIATELY the flow of her blood was dried up; and shefelt in her body that she was healed of her diseas2…And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and BE CURED OF YOUT DISEASE”– And she was! “-{Mark 5:26-29,34}

What money could not buy and doctors could not cure JESUS DID!

3. – AUTHORITY OVER DEATH.-{v35-43}

Then word came from the little girls house that she had died!

BUT this did not cause Jesus to stop, but He calmly headed to the house to confront death!

The LORD Jesus showed His compassion and went to the house. And when He got there,… there was wailing and weeping. When He said she was not dead but sleeping they laughed at Him. He took three of His disciples and the little girl’s mom and dad into the house and He put everyone out. He took the little girl by the Hand and raised her from the dead!

Jesus confronted death and conquered it!

And what was Jesus response? Make His Name, famous? Rally support for His cause? He told the parents not to tell anyone!!! “And He gave them strict orders that no one was to know about this, and He told them to have something given her to eat.”-{Mark 5:35}. Did you note His concern, compassion towards the little girl? Give her something to eat!

Three truths on the Authority and Compassion of the LORD Jesus.

1.- Authority over Demons

2.- Authority over Disease

3.- Authority over Death!

Neither demons, disease nor death could conquer or stop the LORD Jesus Christ, but He conquered each one as He chose to! And He is the same today as He was in that day and forever will be the same -{Malchi 3:6}

We have Reasons to Praise Him and trust the LORD Jesus Christ as the All Powerul One

“ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”-{ Matt 28:18}

  • All are called to SUBMIT to His Authority as revealed in His Word.
  • We can TRUST
  • We Can PRAISE
  • We can TELL others about Him. While the LORD Jesus told the parents not to tell anyone of His raising the little girl from the dead, He has told us to tell His good news… we are not called to be silent but spreading the Gospel of our LORD Jesus Christ whom all authority has been given to Him. Glory!

We can praise Him that all power and authority has been given unto Him in Heaven or on earth or under the earth! Jesus is LORD- He rules, He reigns, He is God!
