“Your hands made me And fashioned me; Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.”-( Psalm 119:73)

1.- ACKNOWLEDGMENT- The Psalmist acknowledges God as his personal Creator, “ … made me… fashioned me.”

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!  Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,  as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out
    before a single day had passed.”- {Psalm 139:13-16}

Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His].
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” –{Psalm 100:3 Amplified Bible}

“Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness;…”-{Genesis 1:26}. “This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven…Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living person.”-{Genesis 2:4,7}

for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His descendants.’”-{Acts 17:28}

For by Him all things were createdboth in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. “-{Colossians 1:16-17}

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew youAnd before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”-{Jeremiah 1;5}

“The Lord has made everything for HIS own purpose, Even the wicked for the day of evil.”-{Pro 16:4}

Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”-{Revelation 4;11}

“Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”-{Isaiah 43:7},

From the beginning of time, down the centuries to the Psalmist, to Jeremiah, to Paul, to the testimony in Heaven, is the declaration the acknowledgment of God as Creator who has made us, the Bible testifies to us is so, though some deny and mock instead choosing to swap the worship of God as Creator with  His creation, blessed is the one who acknowledges Him as Creator and to know they are not a result of some random act or the evolution of some primates but to know that the CREATOR AND SUSTAINER OF THE WORLD  has intimately been involved in bringing you into existence as part of His Creation and giving you the insight to know Him . The Psalmist Acknowledges God as his own personal Creator when he writes the word ” Your Hands MADE ME; and FASHIONED ME!”

 2.-  APPEALS- to Him for what he needs,

“Understanding,” he realized it was not within him but appeals to his Creator to “Give me..,” to gift him “understanding” for he realized this is his need, but to what end? ”…That I might learn Your Commandments” through which the Creator communicates concerning Himself, ways, works, will, and wisdom! We see the Psalmist’s humility and trust in his appeal, unlike a fool that Provers 18:2 speaks of,  “Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.” The Psalmist Appelas to his Maker, Creator to impart understanding that he may “learn” which shows his humility, teachableness, submissiveness, and desire to be taught by God! And he saw it was from God’s Word that he would “learn” so. He would become a man of the Word, dwelling in it, saturated by it to teach him that he might learn of the Creator, Himself, His will, ways, and wisdom through His kindness in giving to him His Word to do so. God’s kindness, his Creator’s kindness in giving him as it were the manual- The Scriptures so that he might know of Him, His character, kindness, and ways! How kind is He. He has not just made us and wound us up like some old clock and left us to ourselves to as it were shuffle about in the dark but through the Lamp of His Word and the Teacher, the Holy Spirit has imparted for us all that we need to know Him increasingly better and to understand His ways so that we may “…learn Your commandments” and walk along His path of righteousness for us! Not a perfect walk, but a new walk. A NEW DIRECTION acknowledging our Creator and Appealing to him for understanding that we too may learn of His commandments to walk with Him, before Him along life’s path before us!!

Today pause and gratefully acknowledge your Creator and appeal for understanding that you may continue to learn His commandments so as to walk with Him in His ways. And you can be confident the humble shall he guide!

You are blessed!
