“And the Lord answered Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I WILL NOT FORGET YOU.”-(Isaiah 49:15)

The word “Forget”.”(shaw-kay’-akh}; a primitive root; to mislay, i.e. To be oblivious of, from want of memory or attention — at all, (cause to) forget.”-(Strongs concordance)

God is NOT Oblivious to you. He has not, does not, and will not ever forget you! You are always on His mind!

1.- DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES – CANNOT CAUSE HIM TO FORGET YOU.

“How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long am I to feel anxious in my soul, With grief in my heart all the day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?”-{Psalm 13:1-2}.

In Psalm 13, four times in the first two verses David asks”How long O LORD?” He was undergoing intense trials and trauma. Saul was chasing him with his men intent on killing him. David was hiding in caves, and had concluded wrongly based on his trials, and troubling circumstances. “But God…” does not rebuke him but reminds him of his goodness to such an extent in verse 6 David says “I will sing to the LORD BECAUSE He has been good to me.” Originally David had assumed and concluded based on his trials and difficult circumstances that the LORD had abandoned and forgotten him.

2.- ISOLATION – CANNOT CAUSE HIM TO FORGET YOU.

The LORD had not Forgotten Hagar. Hagar had fled to the desert after being mistreated by Sarai. Alone yet not forgotten by the LORD who looked her up, And Hagar said, “She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”-{Genesis 16:11}

3.- DESPAIR – CANNOT NOT CAUSE HIM TO FORGET YOU.

The LORD had not forgotten the two despondent disciples on the Road to Emmaus who had chosen not to believe His Word when He said he would die but would rise again, and He did and He chose to seek them out, He looked them up. And their despair turned into burning hearts as He opened His Word to them and explained Himself from all the Scriptures and their hearts so turned from despondency to going seven miles back to tell others of seeing the LORD and His resurrection! -{Luke 24.}

4.- SIN-BETRAYAL – CANNOT CAUSE HIM TO FORGET YOU.

The LORD had not forgotten Peter, or His disciples though he had denied Him, And they all fled from Him. Upon His resurrection, He sent word to them… He looked them and Peter up. -{Mrk 16:7}.

5. – OTHER PEOPLE FORGETTING YOU – CANNOT CAUSE HIM TO FORGET YOU.

So no matter who forgets you, like the prisoner, the chief- cupbearer of the king of Eygpt upon release from prison forgot Joseph.

“But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison. I was forcibly carried off from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing to deserve being put in a dungeon.”-{Genesis 40:14-15}

Joseph had interpreted his dream and asked him to remember him before Pharaoh upon his release, but he had forgotten Joseph! -{Read Genesis 40:23}.

“But God…” the LORD did not forget Joseph, and though it would be two years he remained in prison from Genesis 40:23-41:1, and He has not forgotten you, no matter who does, no matter what circumstances appear to suggest, no matter how you feel. At times we even forget God, at times we even forget that God doesn’t forget! But the truth is that God does not forget, lose track of people, oblivious to them like the cupbearer forgot Joseph, oblivious to him and his plight…

The truth is, Just because others forget you, or the unkindness of others causes you to isolate, despair, or even sin, or any circumstance can cause Him to forget to remember you with favor because of His Son.

  • What makes you think and falsely believe the LORD has forgotten you?

Is it because of your trials? Is it because of your circumstances? Is it because of your despair, or is it because of your sin? Is it because others have? But what does He say in His Word? His Word says…

The LORD has not forgotten you! Think about Him today. And remember…

No matter who forgets you, what circumstances look like, or how you feel, believe what He says in His Word…and take hope in the truth…

THE LORD HAS NOT FORGOTTEN YOU!
