The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. – 1 Timothy 1:5

One of the privileges we have today, in the body of Christ, is to instruct one another. Instruction is given for a purpose. It’s given for love.

1 Timothy 1:5 says “…, the goal of our teaching is love.”  Paul gives a clear purpose to young pastor Timothy regarding teaching. It is not teaching for teaching sake. It is not teaching for fame sake. It is not teaching for  wining an argument, but for Love’s sake! The purpose of his instruction was that all the believers would be filled with love from a pure heart, a clear conscience and genuine faith. What a passage of Scripture. Challenging but filled with hope and also to realize I can have purpose in my life. The first and greatest commandment is to love God and…. to love…others. All of life  is related to these two commands… a working out of them and here  we look at some reasons from the Scriptures to encourage us and reasons how the instruction from The God of the Scriptures through His Holy Word seeks to bless us. I prayerfully trust these will encourage you.

  •   We are to give instruction to… ENCOURAGE.  Romans 15:4 “these things were written that through perseverance and encouragement of the scriptures”
  •  We are to give instruction that produces HOPE. –Romans 15:4 “that through perseverance and encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.” –
  • We are to give instruction that produces HOLINESS OF LIFE.Titus 1:1 “the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness”
  • We are to give instruction for the purpose of SPIRITUAL FREEDOM. –John 8:32: Jesus says “if you continue in My word then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
We are to give instruction for the purpose of BUILDING UP God’s people. –Acts 20:32: “Paul commended them to the word of grace which was able to “build them up.
  •  We are to give instruction for the purpose of  KNOWING HOW TO LIVE PLEASING TO HIM { not for salvation but from appreciation } –Colossians 1:9 “For this I pray that you would be filled with a knowledge of God’s will so that you may live pleasing Him in all walks of life.”
  •  We are to give instruction for the purpose of KNOWING JESUS CHRIST  INTIMATELY.

Today, instruct, reach out to one another from God’s word…

  • ·         to encourage
  • ·         to produce hope
  • ·         to produce holiness of life
  • ·         to bring about freedom
  • ·         to build up God’s people
  • ·         to give the knowledge of Jesus Christ
  • ·         and producing how to live a life pleasing to God.

Today, there is HOPE found in His Word. Look again at some reasons to come to it and look also for the reasons you can serve one another by gently instructing  one another and express love by doing so. Worship Him who has given His Word, His Son… His love… for you to be encouraged and serve one another from a heart of love…from a pure heart…a clear conscience….and genuine faith!
