“Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”-{Psalm 90:12}.

IT’S PERSONAL! God has a personal relationship with the Psalmist as He does with you, a follower of Jesus Christ and with this relationship, comes this cause to approach Him for help!

PERSONALIZE YOUR PRAYING; Substituting the words “us,” “our,” and “we,” this morning I personalized it by placing different people’s names in the verse, praying asking God to “teach {person’s name} to number their day’s that {person’s name} may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Pray the verse for your self, your family

Can you pray this for someone else?

Anyone come to mind?

Pray for them.

PRACTICE; You can memorize this verse and throughout today as you have opportunity Pray this for various people who come to mind, asking God to “teach” is the highest form of learning for the one who is “teachable!”! And in order to “teach,” He must have the ability to teach in such a way the “student” can understand, grasp and implement. He has the wisdom, knowledge, power and love to do so. Asking Him, you find HE IS NOT RELUCTANT…to “teach,” for He has a personal interest and investment in each “student!”- That’s good news!

PURPOSE OF THIS PRAYER; In context of the Psalm, God is eternal and people’s lives on this earth are fleeting. We often Confuse “good health” of body equals a long life that we believe never ends on this earth! We need wisdom to realize this and God to rescue us from ourselves! We can tend to falsely believe we will live forever on this earth. When all around us would testify otherwise. Each grave yard testifies…We need Wisdom to see from God’s perspective. We need wisdom not to waste our hours, days, weeks, months, years, lives!

Our time on this earth and death is “appointed” – {Read Heb 9:27}.

“O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am” – (Ps. 39:4).

“Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility You have created all humanity! Who can live and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave? -{Ps 89:47-48}.

“Teach us to number our days…” Is not that we can count how many days we have in totality, or have left, as we do not know that, but it is teaching the shortness of time!

Our time is short on this earth! Seize the day! Live each day with intent, purpose, for God’s glory! Living with intent, in light of eternity. Eternal souls! Working and living today in light of eternity.

And part of that eternal work is your praying to God that He teach you, and others, whom you can PRAY for to “teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom!”

We need God to “teach” us and impart “wisdom” to live a life which is eternal focused rather than living for the temporal will be the outcome! That this life is so fleeting, temporal, passing would not be wasted, but advantageous for eternity for themselves and those they come in contact with!

Live in Light Of Eternity; God has given each of His people gifts, spiritual gifts to be used for His glory in this generation, an allotted amount of time on this earth,  pray they use them… wisely!
