“ANGER” – {Orge} -{Eph 4:31}

The difference between “wrath”  and “anger,” in Ephesians 4:31 is “wrath” is outbreaks of passion (thumos)  while “anger” is long-lived anger (orge).

  • Is a long standing  septic emotion, inner attitude of deep resentment. A smoldering, deep seated that refuses to be pacified. It is a Habit. It is nursed along and maintained. It is Resentment with hostility. It is Under The Surface. Holding it within. It is long-lasting, slow burning. Only God and the believer know about it. “For man’s anger does not bring about the life God desires”-{James 1:20}. The anger of man never achieves the righteousness of God, which the believer is to pursue! “…anger resides in the hearts of fools “-{Eccl 7:9}…

Anger In Action;

“An angry person starts fights; a hot-tempered person commits all kinds of sin.”-{Prov 29;22} –

“A  gentle answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up strife”-{Prov 15:1}

“Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered,”-{Prov 22:24}

” Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.“-{Ps 37:8}

“Don’t give in to worry or anger; it only leads to trouble.{evildoing}.” – (Psalm 37:8).

“People with quick tempers cause a lot of quarreling and  trouble.”–  {Proverbs 29:22)

“…But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.”- {Col 3;8}

While “wrath” in Ephesians 4:31, is explosive burst of anger. The external of what is taking place within.

The word “orge” for anger is of that which resides deep within. A Settled resentment below the surface that is fixed. It is a refusal to be reconciled and is unforgiving.

It is like like a “sewerage,” of Resentment, unforgiveness, lays beneath the pavement, unseen but existing never the less. Only when the pipe that carries it bursts is there the vulgar stench and contamination.  This “anger,” keeps companion with “bitterness, wrath, loud shouting, slander and malice  of which Paul says are to be “Lay aside ” or “Put off” like a dirty garment, indeed the garment of death, evil vices that it is as opposed to the garment of grace which is a garment of kindness, tenderness and forgiveness which the believers are to adopt in attitude and CHOOSE to respond with.  “Put On…” these new attitudes and actions… Choose to respond with these attitudes and actions. Choose, you have the power and the Pleasure of God to work these desires and empowering “IN YOU”- {Phil 2:13}

Anger IS choosing not to Love God or others. It is hatred, resentment, unforgiveness.

God will empower you to LOVE Him and Others.. and as you choose to do so you are  modeling love . “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”- {Eph 5:1-2}.

When tempted to respond to a hurt with “Anger,” REMEMBER you were bought with a price you are not your own therefore Glorify God…”-{1 Cor 6:20} “… Since you call in a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives in reverent fear during your temporary stay on earth.For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers,but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.” – {1 Peter 1:17-19}-

This anger is under the surface, but is not harmless, like a viper it is destructive and it poisons the person, it is a result of being offended very often and keeping a record of wrongs and the refusal to extend forgiveness. It is to immediately be REPENTED of, turned from and REPLACED with Kindness, Tenderness and Forgiveness- which are all choices and with the power of the Holy Spirit to enable and the Word to guide you, be encouraged God is at work “in you’ both to desire and empower you for His good pleasure – {Read Phil 2:13}.

When you have your feelings hurt and the temptation is to take up the offense and CHOOSE to be Bitter and ANGRY though hidden from others it is not from God. At that moment choose to RESPOND His Way by “BE” the word means to “become… Bring into existence”… Kindness- that which is useful to others… Tenderheartedness  Compassion towards the, and GIVE something. Give “ForGIVEness” … and the motivation Just as God  “has forgiven you.” HIS forgiveness as used here speaks of that which is finished, full and final! And so you forgive likewise!

Throw off the old garment and the way you used to respond because you were a spiritual prisoner and could not respond any other way, instead Choose to RESPOND in His way and through the power of the Holy Spirit  according to His Word… Choose your response by faith.

Think and act it out….

keep THINKING ON THE TRUTH -{Read Phil 4:8; Rom 12:2}…

TALKING THE TRUTH truth to yourself {Read Psalm 1:2} and

TRUSTING Him {Prov 3:5} and  to remind you of the verses as you hide them in your heart and PRACTICE His Word…

CHOOSE TO LOVE OTHERS…” FOR JESUS SAKE.” -{2 Cor 4:5}.

Because you can

 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. “-{2 Peter 1:3-4}.
