” Praise the LORD, For it is good to sing praises to our God;
For it is pleasant and praise is becoming…

Great is our Lord and abundant in strength;
His understanding is infinite.“-{Psalm 147:5}

The Psalmist rally’s the people to “Praise, boast in the LORD,..Sing His Praises,” and he says to do so is “good..,pleasant..,  becoming{beautiful}…” And one  aspect for His praise is His “Greatness!” He goes onto recount His greatness in restoring the city, bringing home the “outcasts,”-{v2}, Healing the “broken-hearted.”-{v3} “Binding up their wounds”-{v 3}; and Supporting the “afflicted”-{v6}. He is great in Compassion; His intervention and intimacy and care, concern, compassion. He is Great in Creation; “He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.”-{v4}. “God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.”-{Genesis 1:16}.

The “Lord is GREAT!”  He is “the Great God”-{Neh 8:6}; “You are Great and Do Wondrous things, You alone are God.”-{Psalm 86:10}; “For I know that the Lord is great And that our Lord is above all gods.”-{Psalm 135:5}; “For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.”-{Psalm 96:4}. “Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. “-{Isaiah 40:26}.

His Great power, might to create, to sustain, to number and name stars, to heal the broken- hearted, to save souls. His Power is Great. Great to create, Great in judgement, as in the days of Noah and Pharaoh’s army, and none had the power to stop Him. Great in deliverance. Great in Mercy, compassion, Great to “..Heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds.”-{Psalm 147:3}.
