YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE!

NO CHANCE!
I will never leave you or forsake you.” {Hebrews 13:5}.

There are 5 Negatives in the Greek in this verse, that cannot express any more forcefully, the truth of God’s promise, I am always and forever with you. They are forceful words to ASSURE the believer. God will never, never, never, never, never leave you or abandon you- No Chance!

WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN COMMON WITH GOD’S PROMISE TO THESE PEOPLE?

  • JACOB – “I Am with you…I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU.”- {Gen 28:15}
  • MOSES to the Israelite’s – “For the LORD your God goes with you; He will NEVER Leave you nor FORSAKE YOU.”- {Deut 31; 6, 8}
  • JOSHUA – “I will NEVER LEAVE you nor FORSAKE YOU.”- {Josh 1:5}
  • SOLOMON – “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God is with you. He will NOT FAIL you or FORSAKE YOU.”- {1 Chron 28; 20}
  • THE DISCIPLES – being sent out to Serve-“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with YOU always, even to the end of the age.” – {Matt 28:19-20.}
  • SUFFERING BELIEVERS– “I will never leave or forsake YOU.”- {Hebrews 3:5}

Here is what you have in common with the above mentioned as God PROMISED and assured and reassured His people throughout the ages, so He wants you to know irrespective of how you “feel,” He is forever with you! He has written FIVE Negatives in this one verse to make sure YOU know the TRUTH about God and His heart towards you. When doubts arise, accusations come, circumstances look bleak, when “feelings” seek to imprison and lie to you of God’s care and not “feeling” His presence, God wants you to be assured from this verse, He will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER- leave or forsake you. The word, ”leave” {aniemi}  means “to send back, to relax, to loosen, not to uphold, to let sink.” God is not going to loosen His grip on you, let sink or send you back to a life of being lost and dead in sin! The word “forsake,” means to forsake someone, abandon, desert them in a state of defeat or helplessness in the midst of hostile circumstances, to let someone down. There are three negatives in the Greek before this word, promising, “I will not, I will not, I will not, abandon you.” Phew, that is great news and blessed assurance! Get the point?

What do you have in common with Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Solomon, the disciples and the readers in the book of Hebrews? You have the irrevocable Promise – God is forever committed to you! You can confidently say, “He is WITH me, WITH me, WITH me, WITH me, WITH me!” He will- say it out loud – five negatives to make one Super, Eternal Positive- “GOD IS WITH ME, now and always will be! He is never, never, never, never, never, going to leave, forsake, abandon me- NO CHANCE!- God is with me!” You have the Promise of God to you, and He cannot lie! Speak this TRUTH to yourself! There is NO CHANCE for You that in this moment, this hour, today or any moment of any hour, day, year, life time, or eternity of God ever forsaking you, because He abandoned Jesus once for your sin, so you need never be abandoned. He has reconciled you to Himself through the blood of the Cross, and He can no more abandon you in light of that cross than He could abandon His dear Son again- NO CHANCE! You are eternally secure and safe in Him and He is with you now as you read this, and forever and it has nothing to do with your performance but the performance of Jesus Christ on your behalf! No circumstances, feelings can change this reality, for it depends totally on the FAITHFULNESS OF GOD to His Word concerning you!

The writer of Hebrews was writing to people who had been ostracized, who were struggling, immature, suffering and in chapter twelve he tells them to “Look away {and keep looking away} to Jesus” by faith in Him. Read through the book of Hebrews and look for the word, “better.” It is used 13 times. Jesus is “better” than Moses who gave the law, because Jesus fulfilled the law. Jesus is “better” than the priests, because while they had to constantly offer sacrifices, Jesus offered His sacrifice once for all and has set down in the place of rest, Absolute Sovereign God, Advocate, and is your “Great High priest.” Once a year the high priest would go into the holy of holies and offer sacrifice for the sins of the people. There was no place for him to sit, as his work never ended .He could only stay there as long as God designated, a day! But Jesus who is “better” offered His once for all sacrifice and has ascended to the Throne where He has sat down because His work in satisfying the demands of the law and the righteousness of God. He has sat down as His work is finished, making “The way” to God through Him. His Work, His sacrifice, God’s acceptance of it and raising Him from the dead showed His approval of it, on your behalf, that you may now stand before Him declared right and accepted. You now,  “…having been justified by faith…peace with God… through our Lord Jesus…stand in grace…” {Romans 5:1-2}

You do not have to find a “priest” to stand before God on your behalf. You have “access to God” through our Lord Jesus. {Rom 5:2}.  Permanent access, anytime, anywhere, Jesus is your “Great High Priest!” Jesus is” better.” He is “the Great High priest.” The word, ”Great” means “Superior!” Jesus is superior than all the priests combined. They all died. They had to continually offer sacrifices, Jesus is “better” because He is the Lamb of God slain for your sins and His offering of Himself is the perfect sacrifice, once for all, for your sins,. Jesus ever lives, seated, because the work is finished. Seated in the place of ultimate authority. Seated as Lord of lords and King of Kings. Seated as your advocate, and Friend, His family member. He sits with love for you. Consider Calvary. Jesus is “better!” You do not have to find a priest to stand before God on your behalf you have the “Great High Priest. ”Jesus is ”better!” You’ll never walk alone because of the work of Jesus on your behalf and in sending you the Holy Spirit, ”who is with you forever!” {John14:16}. He has been sent to indwell you, empower you, embolden you, comfort you, counsel you, gift you, and illuminate the Word of God to you and “Glorify” Jesus Christ to you and through you. His Name, His Fame to be spread is the Work of the Holy Spirit in glorifying Jesus Christ. His great work is to point people to the LORD Jesus. {John 16:14} Jesus is “better!” Jesus is “better!”

Look at the Godly response from this verse to be is, “….being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,”  so that we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” {Heb 13:5-6}

In your “Walk”…

A.  BE SATISFIED; “Being content” the word {arkeo} means, to be possessed of unfailing strength, to be strong, and finally to “to be satisfied, contented.” Satisfied with what you have because of Who is with you- The LORD. Warren Wiersbe adds that…

“The word content actually means “contained.” It is a description of the man whose resources are within him so that he does not have to depend on substitutes without.

(Wiersbe, W: Bible Exposition Commentary. 1989. Victor)

B.  BE ASSURED– The Lord has promised to always be with you

C. BE CONFIDENT– “the LORD is your “Helper.” “The LORD,” the word  speaks of Him as Master, Owner, The LORD we are told in Genesis 2:4, is God. Exodus 3:15, He is revealed as the Self-Existent One, in need of nothing outside of Himself to sustain, inform Him. In Deuteronomy 7:9, He is the One who is Faithful, keeping His Promises. In Malachi 3:6 He is revealed as the Unchanging One. In Isaiah 45 He is the Sovereign One, In light of who is with you, the LORD, what is man!  Be satisfied, THINK Scripturally and hold to a Divine perspective about the LORD and His promises to you, His beloved child! Be strong, because the Lord has given His Word that there is no chance of Him ever leaving you! Be satisfied, He is with you forever. Develop and see life through the lens of Scripture and a Divine perspective is what you will need to hold to continually, especially in difficult times! You don’t need to be afraid. Choose to be strong-the LORD is with you eternally!  Be Confident the LORD is with you!

D. BE COURAGEOUS. What is man compare to the LORD who is committed to you and with you! BE REALISTIC, what is man in view of who The LORD is- He is with you

Be content, be confident be courageous, and you can be because You Never walk alone!

BE CHRIST-CONSCIOUS…because The LORD walks with you!-you will never walk alone!

Let Truth feed your thought life, not fears, doubts, lies. God’s Word is fuel for the fire of faith!

You will never walk alone. You cannot walk alone, because of God’s work through the “Gift” of His Son, the “Gift” of salvation, the “Gift” of the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God. It is not an issue of whether you “feel” His presence. He is present with you, for you, in you. “Christ IN YOU, the Hope of glory!” {Col 1:27}.

Walk on with hope in your heart, for you’ll never walk alone, because of Jesus!

APPLICATION FOR YOU;

1.-THINK on His Promise- Go with what He says, irrespective of how you feel. Write the verse on a 3 by 5 card and memorize, meditate and praise God for His promise.

2.- TRUST and THANK Him- for His Faithfulness and writing down this promise and preserving it for generations that this moment you may read and be reminded of God’s Never, never, never, never, never- Promise of Assurance- “I will never leave you or forsake YOU.” No matter who walks away, be assured God will not, cannot because He is faithful to His Word and His is a faithful promise of Love to encourage you in times of trouble -just as it was when written in the book of Hebrews!

3. -SHARE this Truth with a fellow believer today. You could begin by asking “Do you know what there is NO CHANCE for you today of?”….” There is NO CHANCE of God ever forsaking or abandoning you!”

THANK GOD THIS PROMISE IS TRUE THIS MOMENT FOR YOU!

NO CHANCE!

God will never, never, never, never, never leave you or abandon you- No Chance.

You’ll Never Walk Alone, Walk on with Hope in Your heart

LOOKING AWAY TO JESUS!
