It is easy to say “WE choose” but I wanted to personalize it by using, “I,” as you read and see if you have embraced any of the lies… sometimes when we personalize it, it can help us detect and choose to reject the lies by replacing it with TRUTH… Hope this helps and encourages you.
LIES WE CHOOSE TO BELIEVE IN OUR TRIALS;
- – I CHOOSE – to believe IF GOD LOVED ME He WOULDN’T LET THIS HAPPEN TO ME!
- –I Choose – to believe He CANNOT BE TRUSTED.
- – I CHOOSE – to believe He will not HONOR HIS WORD to me. For Others maybe, but not me.
- – I CHOOSE- to believe He DOES NOT CARE About Me.
- – I CHOOSE – to believe the lie that I have so sinned, so messed up that I am “not worthy,” of HIS HELP or Forgiveness! {Indeed our only “worthiness” is always based on the “worthiness” of Jesus Christ, His righteousness on our behalf.}
- – I CHOOSE – to believe God Has FORGOTTEN and ABANDONED Me. -{Read Psalm 13:1-2}
- – I CHOOSE – To Believe God Is Angry with me and is PUNISHING Me!
- – I CHOOSE – to believe I am SELF- SUFFICIENT!
- – I CHOOSE – to believe God SHOULD Work it out, that He is OBLIGATED- To Work It Out The way I “Feel’ It should be worked out!
WHY DO WE BELIEVE THESE LIES?
Sometimes it can be a result of IGNORANCE of who He is and what He says. Other times It is a DELIBERATE CHOICE we make, Because we “CHOOSE” to! It is a choice we make, and in order to choose to believe these lies, we have to consciously, deliberately REJECT God and what He says in His Word! In effect it is to say God cannot be trusted! He is a liar and His Word is not true! It begins with a “thought,” that is not examined through the lens of Scripture {Read Phil 4:8},but embraced as “truth.” Why? “Because I FEEL it is so!”
Wrong Feelings, lead to wrong conclusions!
Such wrong ‘Feelings’ take the ultimate place of God’s Word as the ultimate authority, Whose feelings? “MY Feelings!” So “I” place myself above God and His Word in determining what is truth and what is not! ‘
It takes “faith,” to believe a lie, to say it is believable and true! It is a choice I make, EITHER Faith in a Lie, or faith in the LORD, and His WORD?
TWO PRONG ATTACK WITH THESE LIES ARE;
1. – All These LIES are an ATTACK ON THE CHARACTER of God
2. -and to CHOOSE to Embrace them is an attack on you Loving God with all your MIND!
HOW DO WE COMBAT THESE LIES?
Take the thought captive and examine it in the Scriptures. “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ…WHATEVER IS TRUE… THINK ON…”-{2 Cor 10:5; Phil 4:8}
- Does it Honor God?
- Is it True of me “In Christ?”
- What Does the Word say?
- Will it Help me Love God and others?
1. RECOGNIZE The LIE. -{ Phil 4:8}.
2. REPLACE The LIE WITH TRUTH -{Phil 4:8}
3. MEDITATE AND APPLY THE WORD,- {Psalm 1:2; James 1:22}.
4. REPEAT the above three AGAIN AND AGAIN “RENEWING YOUR MIND”– {Rom 12:2} So that influences your thinking and choices in alignment with God’s Word and will.-{Romans 12:2}
We are to ” CONTINUE IN THE WORD AND YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE” -{John 8:31-32}…”RENEW YOUR MIND…” – {Rom 12:2}…”Whatever is TRUE…let your MIND, DWELL on it”-{Phil 4:8}…Read Philippians 4:8 and note the Six “WHATEVER’S” that are some of the things we are to CHOOSE to Train Our Mind’s to THINK on… Psalm 1:2 we are to “Delight in His Word and Meditate upon it DAY and NIGHT!”…” Be Transformed by the RENEWING of YOUR MIND”- (Rom 12:2).
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”- ( James 1:22)
LIES lead to Bondage. TRUTH LIBERATES, “…and you will KNOW THE TRUTH, and the TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE,”-{John 8:32}
TRUTH EXPOSES AND DEFEATS LIES WHEN GOD IS BELIEVED, and we APPLY the Truth!
