Does It Matter What I Think  About God?

The people wanted their own “gods.” Other nations had theirs so why not them! And so they fashioned a “god” of  their own imagination and created a golden calf and said this is “God!” How far off they were! They wanted to be like others so they formed a “god” whom they could see, but could not speak, love, direct, for it was made and fashioned by them in their “own image!” Like the ‘gods’ around them, they were useless, impotent, and an offense to the One true and Living God! And it all began from their impatience, false concept about the Living True God who had delivered them…Their self made ‘god’ was  man made, lifeless, false and an idol!

” When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.” Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”-{Exodus 32:1-4}.

Crazy! They were attributing to this “calf” that was made of jewelry formed and forged by Aaron, that this their creation was who they falsely attributed to have delivered them from Egypt!  Question… if they made it, where was it before they formed, fashioned it? Crazy? Yes, but then sin is insane! We deny Him and His work and attribute it to someone or something else! How like them we too shamefully behave. Maybe not building a calf but taking glory from Him what He has done … like the term ‘self -made man’- attributing “success’ to our own doing. Insane, yes, then again sin is insane, rebellious, idolatry, replacing Him with the elevating of our self or our own creations above Him!

How many “golden calf’s” we have built and have!

They wanted their “own god” and to lead them… they wanted  their “god” to guide them and in essence be their servant. Sound familiar? They  attributed the Work of God in His mighty deliverance from the bondage of Egypt to the self made “god.” Idolatry!

Yes, it does matter what we think about God!

His Word reveals Him as He is and how He is to be thought of and worshiped, followed and loved… and to those who do, even in great catastrophic circumstances like Jeremiah experienced, witnessed, and testified to, in the Book of Lamentations we see…

THE CONSEQUENCES Of…THINKING RIGHT about God for a believer, produces HOPE, based on the LOVE of God through Him who is FAITHFUL who is your PORTION!

…Some Consequences!! –🙂

“Yet this I call to MIND
and therefore I have HOPE:

Because of the Lord’s GREAT LOVE we are not consumed, for His compassion’s never fail.
They are new every morning;

great is Your FAITHFULNESS.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my PORTION; “- {Lam 3:21-24}

How would you answer someone if they asked,”Does it matter what I think about God?” And why?

If I am “sincere” would that not be good enough, and acceptable? NO! It’s possible to be “sincere” but sincerely wrong. For example if you are driving and are convinced you are going in the right direction and carry on, and then see a sign that indicates you are heading in the wrong direction, no matter how passionately sincere you are, you are still heading the wrong way and need to lay aside what you are thinking and have believed and TURN around in order to go the RIGHT WAY. So with our thinking. We need to renew our mind, rejecting our own thoughts about God and TURN to HIS Word and Let Him teach us RIGHT THINKING about Him as revealed exclusively in His Word.

 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the Word of Truth.”-{2 Tim 2:15}

Thinking Wrong About God, equals Idolatry -{Exodus 32:1-4}. It is to take His Name in vain, to defame and dishonor Him! To say He is other than He truly is. It is to make a “god” of your own imagination.

The Consequences of Thinking Right about God, honors Him and produces hope, resting in His Love because He is Faithful who is your Portion! -{Lam 3:21-24}

Feed your mind on His Word, read it, Meditate upon it, Practice it. Praise Him, that He has made Himself known to us through His Word, that we may THINK RIGHT about HIM, and TELL Others of Him, the ONE TRUE AND LIVING GOD!
