“HAPPY…” ARE THE HELPERS!

“How BLESSED is he who considers the poor (helpless)…” -{Psalm 41:1-3}. The word used here for “Blessed,” is also translated “happiness’s” in Psalm 1:1; 32:1. It translates the Hebrew word “esher,” which has the idea of ~happiness or contentment.and speaks of a state, of happiness, contentment,…satisfied. The one who does His will is a happy person, contented, satisfied, that is internal and cannot be affected by external ever changing outward circumstances!

It is the happy state of those who find their purpose and fulfillment in GodWho order their lives according to His Word…It is an exclamation, and plural, “Oh the Happiness’s!“ is what it means! It is emphatic, God says this is so, and therefore it is! OH the happiness of those who consider the poor, helpless, needy!

Do you know Who is happy?

“Oh the “happiness’s of the one who considers and helps the poor!”

Do you know How to be Happy?

In This verse see, recognize and find the best way to aid one who is in need!

 *The key to this happy, contented, satisfied, “blessed,” life is trusting the LORD and is evidenced through obeying Him, and in this case helping the needy!

“Blessed” is Heavens proclamation of the one who considers thoughtfully in order to help the poor. The word “poor” used here is singular. It is speaking of a specific person that the psalmist had in mind. They are “helpless, powerless,” and in need of assistance. And the one who assists the poor, God’s approval is upon them. Note, the Hebrew “Esher comes” from the Hebrew word “ashar,” which in its root means “to be straight” or “to be right.” Blessed is the man speaks of the happiness, the blessedness, the contentment in the life of the man or woman who is right or “straight” with God.  The one who considers and helps the poor are blessed.  For it reflects His own heart. A heart of love evidenced by meeting someone’s need, to see and help the poor.

Proverbs 19:17 says “He who lends to the poor lends to The Lord.” Wow! How personal is that! God knows the poor and one who is helpless and in need, and those who consider to help and do help them! God knows and sees the poor, He knows and  sees the one who helps them!

REMEMBER…“The rich and POOR have this in common: The LORD made them both.”- (Proverbs 22:2)

” My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious LORD Jesus Christ MUST NOT SHOW FAVORITISM . Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a POOR MAN in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with EVIL THOUGHTS Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love Him?”-( James 2:1-5)

NOTE- Showing “Favoritism” based on one’s economical condition IS NOT ONLY FORBIDDEN, but He says comes forth from “EVIL MOTIVES!”

“When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? When did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’ And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’…”-{Matt 25:39-40} How you treat others is in exact proportion to how you treat The Lord Jesus!.., while we have opportunity let us do good to all men especially those of the household of faith .. If you see your brother in need and close your heart how can you say the love of God is in you? Let us not love in word or tongue but in deed and truth .” -{Read Gal 6:9-10;1 John 3:16-18}

It is to have EMPATHY with them, to put yourself in their shoes and do all you can to help them and treat them as you would want them to treat you of it was you in a similar situation. To help the poor, the helpless, those in need, God says this is the one who is Blessed, they are the “happy” ones! They have compassion, empathy and are doers of the Word! Compassion in action! Blessed – happy, satisfied, contented! They are happy people! To help the poor is to look outward, away off self onto others!

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.”- ( Luke 6:31)

” Considers…” The word, implies wise as well as kind consideration.

” to look at, to look at with the mind; to consider , to attend to; it begins with looking at something , then mentally investigating it, all the way to attending to it. It encompasses a process. To be or become intelligent, prudent or wise , it implies maturity of understanding or judgement ” blessed is the one who intelligently, prudently, wisely with maturity of understanding and judgment considers the poor… There is the process of thinking through a complex thought resulting in a wise dealing and use of good practical common sense… Another end result is emphasis upon being successful.”

The word “Considers” {Sakai}. “… It is not just seeing a problem that needs fixing. It is seeing a situation – a person in need – taking stock and determining what had to give to fulfill what the other person really needs, investigating the needy person ‘s situation and attitude (as much as possible) considering God’s involvement and extrapolating what actions and methods one may take to produce the best possible solution After all that , one must actually do what needs to be done to bring the situation to a successful conclusion ”

“Consider” – implies giving careful thought to the person’ situation, rather than superficial, token, half-hearted, minimum of effort …

  • Happy is the one who considers the poor, weak, helpless..and helps them!
  • Happy is the one who considers the poor… Has a heart of love
  • Happy is the one who considers the poor…Not to feel good about themselves but to DO GOOD to someone in need
  • Happy is the one who considers the poor…is willing to obey God and trust Him
  • Happy is the person who meets the need of the poor, the helpless …

Hoarding and selfishness is a Joy killer!

V 1-3 is taking up with how the blessed person is taking up with the needs of the poor, the helpless, not as the two men who walked by the man beaten up and laid on the side of the road in whom they saw but chose to walk by. We need to be like the Good Samaritan and go to assist the one in need. Luke 10:33- The good Samaritan “… When he saw him, he had COMPASSION (on him)”.Jesus shows this in what it means to love your neighbor…To meet the person who is in need ! He says is ” Blessed!” “…It is more BLESSED to give than receive!”

And Note the psalmist was writing from a sick bed.

“The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed;

In his illness, You restore him to health.”- (v3)

He was on a sick bed and he testifies how God had helped him in his time of illness. God had not abandoned him, nor will He abandon you in your time of need! What an amazing truth that God was taken care of the Psalmist on his sick bed! What pagan “god” cares intimately for those on a sick bed-none, but our God does! His attentive care, compassion and aid to His sick one. He Tenderly watches over us during those times … I personally can testify to this!

“How blessed is he who considers the poor (helpless)

The Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble.

The Lord will protect him and keep him alive,

And he shall be called blessed upon the earth;

And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies.

The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed;

In his illness, You restore him to health.”-( Psalm 41:1-3)

Oh The Happiness’s {the word is plural} of the one who helps the needy!

Find someone in need and help them!

The Happy Person….is a Doer of Good, a Giver!

Be Happy… Be A Giver! 🙂
