“Blessed…” The word means “Happy,” it speaks of spiritual, satisfaction, contentment…it is plural,-the many happiness’s of this one. It is an exclamation, “Oh the happiness’s!”

“How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!

How blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit!” -(Psalm 32:1-2).

David uses Four Hebrews words for sin and three words for Forgiveness. We see the seriousness and debauchery, defilement of sin and the Glorious mercy of God to relieve the sinner of the guilt, bondage and penalty of sin!

4 Words for sin:
(1) “Transgression” = Rebellion, the word means, “to step over a boundary, to cross a line” that God has prohibited for our good as that which will also benefit society and His honor! It speaks of open rebellion against God’s commands. It is the picture of DEFIANCE! It is to refuse to submit to His Authority!

(2) “Sin” = To miss the mark. To come short of the standard God designed for us. It is used of a bent arrow that cannot fly straight! Sin is pictured as a DEFECT!

(3) “Iniquity” (NIV, “sin”) = from a word meaning “bent or crooked,”twisted. It speaks of perverting what is right in God’s sight. We are perverted in our nature and bent towards evil!

(4) “Deceit” = not been truthful . It means to be “Dishonest,and deceptive.”To deliberate cover-up, lie, hypocrisy. To present yourself as someone you are not, and to deal in deception!

These four words describe us ALL! Sinful people and condemned before God and rightly so !

“BUT GOD…”
In His great mercy provides FORGIVENESS… and gives us three wonderful, hope filled assurance that our SIN can be taken care of by GOD! He uses three words to show us …

(1) “Forgiven” = To lift up, bear, carry off, or take away a burden. Our sin is a burden which God Himself bears or takes away. Like the picture in the Old Testament of the scapegoat where the high priest laid his hands on the head of the selected goat and confess the sins of the people and in the ceremonial fashion putting sin on the goat and the goat taking away to the wilderness and never to return again! God did so by placing your sin on Christ and taking them away from Him never to be held against you again. The transfer of sin onto His account…Christ your Substitute, “Scapegoat,!” ” Behold The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world !

(2) “Covered” = It means “To conceal, to put out of sight.”
Out of sight. God puts our sins out of His sight. In Colossians 2 He did this through the cross… And He never brings them up again to hold against us because of His provision, the costly provision of the death,the Blood of His Son! ”

(3) “Not counted” (“impute,” NASB) = a debt that is Not charged to our account.

Oh the happiness’s – of the one forgiven by God! “I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.”-{Isaiah 43:25}.

Martin Luther said, “Sin has but two places where it may be; either it may be with you, so that it lies upon your neck, or upon Christ, the Lamb of God. If now it lies upon your neck, you are lost; if, however, it lies upon Christ, you are free and will be saved.”

“Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight!
Yes, what joy for those
whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt,
whose lives are lived in complete honesty! “-
(NLT)

BLESSED ARE THE FORGIVEN “In Christ,” you are FORGIVEN…You are A “BLESSED FORGIVEN” one –

Oh the spiritual contentment when our sin issue is dealt with by God…We are cleansed and forgiven He has washed away every stain never to hold against us again. Forgiven and Freed!

“I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah.”-{Psalm 32:5}

“If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?But with You there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve You.”-{Psalm 130:3-4 NIV}

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. -{Micah 7:18 NIV}

“This glorious thought, My sin, not in part but the whole is nailed to the Cross and I bear it no more, Praise The Lord, Praise The Lord, oh my soul…It is well with my soul…”
