” He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. “-{Psalm 147:3}.

The verse is “Referring primarily to the fact that He had healed those who were crushed and broken in their long captivity, and that He had given them comfort by returning them to their native land. At the same time, however, the language is made general, as describing a characteristic of God that He does this; that it is His character to do this. See the notes at Psalm 34:18. See also Psalm 51:17. Compare Isaiah 61:1Luke 4:18. “And bindeth up their wounds” – See the notes at Isaiah 1:6. Margin, griefs. The word refers to those who are afflicted with griefs and troubles. The reference is to mental sorrows; to a troubled spirit; to a heart made sad in any way. God has provided healing for such; on such He bestows peace.” -{Albert Barnes}.

“Heals” means to “mend by stitching, to repair thoroughly, to cure, heal physician, make whole.” He specializes tenderly, compassionately with empathy towards the “broken-harted.” People say “time heals,” it doesn’t…it distances, but the LORD HEALS, who is ever present. Give Him your broken heart and Let Him heal, for that is a specialty of His. We need not fear Him who cares and lovingly helps with our broken hearts!…Praise Him, The Healer Is Present, and His Healing is on the way. The word “Heal,”to stitch ” caught my attention. Thinking of someone lovingly, carefully leaning over a garment, in a darkened room, with a lamp to shine upon the torn, wounded garment, that has been torn in one hand and with the other needle and thread carefully, lovingly stitching it back together. Sometimes the “tear” may be evident, but when God heals and stitches our hearts back there is nothing but “wholeness” when He is done, that’s His promise, “He heals the broken heart and binds up their wounds.” Makes me pause, humbles me to think on How great, tender, affectionate, intimately acquainted is He with us, each of us collectively and individually!

This Healing of the heart is exclusive. God heals… Jesus was sent with purpose, He said…”The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”- {Luke 4:18}

 God is called “Jehovah RAPHA” in the Old Testament which means The God who heals. “Rapha means “to restore, to heal, or to cure.” God heals. God restores. God cures!

 PRAISE HIM.. The Tender, Effective Healer of the Broken- Hearted, none so broken that He cannot make whole! Entrust your heart, all the pain to Him, and let Him begin to make you whole! “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit. “-{Psalm 147:4-5}. Who is He who “heals?” He is the One who is Creator, numbering and naming the stars all known to Him and He is the One who understands. When the heart is broken, sad, and seemingly beyond repair, when we “feel no one understands,” we read He does, for His understanding has no limit!” He understands you, and all you have been through are going through.  When questions arise,”How can I go on?” He whose power is limitless, to lift your saddened eyes and heart and look to the heavens at night and see the stars all made by Him, for Him, and they testify that He whose Power made and sustains them, His same Power is available and working on your behalf to bring about Healing. He is not afar off, HE is near, present, and will keep His promise to you for “He heals the broken heart!” We see His Greatness, tenderness  and gentleness in these verses. Notice the verse says “HE Heals,” He is personally involved, personally undertaking, overseeing and healing, mending, making whole the broken, wounded heart!
