JESUS CAME…

“TO SET THE OPPRESSED FREE.” The word means, “shattered,” or “broken in pieces.” Lives that are shattered, broken lives, for these HE CAME. Those who are under the tyranny of satan, sin, “oppressed” by sin. Oppressed by the burdens of the religious of the day putting laws on them they could never keep and the utter devastation of lives a result. Lives “shattered, broken in pieces,” what a devastating picture of humanity, the pain, broken people. They were without liberty and hope. Is there no hope, no help? “But God….”

The Lord Jesus was sent for these ones,  – “…But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,  so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.”-{Gal 4:4-6}

Jesus  came for these ones, and people like you and me. Shattered lives, people who are broken by sin. Like the woman at the well, broken by sin, used by sin, shattered .{Read John 4:1-26} Or the religious Nicodemus, Having knowledge about God but not knowledge of Him through a personal relationship.{Read John 3:1-18}. Their lives looked different to on-lookers but to Him they were internally shattered, broken lives, spiritually bankrupt, in ruins and in need of newness of life! Jesus came to liberate and make them and us spiritually whole!  He heals wounded and shattered lives, and gives newness of life and liberty to the oppressed! “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full “- {John 10:10}. The New Living Translation reads, “…The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
