“For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God DEMONSTRATES His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”-{Romans 5:7-8}.

Paul contrasts the love of people to the love of God. Where the love of people is conditional, based on “if you love me I will love you back,” or is a “love” based on what you can do for me or a “love” based on sight. It is a self centered “love.” God’s love is not like peoples. His is Selfless, unconditional. A love of commitment. It is continuous! Look again whom did He love? “Sinners!” Those who deserve His wrath and instead were recipients of His love. And How did He show His love? CHRIST DIED!”

The word, “Demonstrates” is a beautiful word, it is in the
“present tense.” THINK of this. The Cross was a past event where He showed His Love but “present tense,” means He is CONTINUALLY showing His LOVE to us!  And suffering, tribulations, trials DO NOT CUT OFF, STOP, HIS LOVE! His is a continuing love FOR YOU at all times!

Who will separate us from the love of Christ?

Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?…

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.“-{Romans 8:35, 38-39}.

This verses is in the context of SUFFERING – {v 3-4}. And God wants the suffering one to know He loves them. If He loved them while they were a “sinners” and an”enemy” which speaks of “animosity, a deep hatred,” towards Him.- { v 10}. And yet if He loved us then when we “were”- The word speaks of being in a continual state of sin and animosity and deep hatred towards Him. The phrase “MUCH MORE” is used in v 9-10, “Much more,” if having loved us when we were lost, “Much more,” does HE LOVE US NOW that we are His Family-{1 John 3:1} and Friends-{John 15:15} by His doing!-{Read Romans 5:1-2}

So in the midst of “suffering, tribulation…” God assures His love and wants them to be “Knowing”-It means “To BE FULLY AWARE…” That “Suffering is PRODUCING…”- It is working something. It is working…

“Perseverance…
Proven Character…
A Future Hope of The Glory of God
A Present Hope that does not appoint…
“BECAUSE the Love of GOD has been poured out in our heart by the Holy Spirit who was GIVEN to us….”-{Romans 5:3-5}.

The temptation when suffering could be to doubt His love and Paul REASSURES them that in their SUFFERING God is WORKING”…”PRODUCING…” something Good that He uses suffering and tribulations to PRODUCE as we trust Him, believe Him, obey Him and we can …REJOICE in what we “KNOW” to be true in our Sufferings…. GOD LOVES US and is producing perseverance and spiritual maturity, Christ-likeness… -{v3}…and it will benefit His gospel and others!

You can say amidst your sufferings, “I was spiritually helpless, ungodly {v6}, a “sinner,” {v8}dead in my sins and an Enemy of God,-{v10}…But God… Christ died for me to demonstrate His Love for me. And His love for me goes on and on for His love is a committed continual love for me His child, even in times of suffering!🙂
