“For David, after he had SERVED THE PURPOSE OF GOD IN HIS OWN GENERATION, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers and underwent decay; “– {ACTS 13:36.}

GOD WRITES AND RECORDS DAVID’S OBITUARY- IMAGINE GOD WRITING YOUR OBITUARY…THAT HE COULD WRITE, that we too would  serve HIS Purpose in OUR generation, before we too fall asleep, and go to be with Him. Wouldn’t it be something if that could be His testimony of us as our “Obituary.”

Look at the Grace of God in this verse. Note what He doesn’t bring up. He doesn’t bring up his past, sin, failings, but He focus’s on His service to Him. How gracious He is. While we are often busy trying to dig up bones of others failings and sins to display then and even compare ourselves to them , how unlike them we are {a bit of a Pharisee in us all at times, “Lord I thank You that I am not like…”}, it is really a lack of love for the person and a misunderstanding of God and His graciousness. We focus on failures and sin. God deals with the sin issue, but does not leave us there. His Spirit has us focus on SERVING OTHERS and the SAVIOR! We want to end with the “gutter,” gossips end with the gutter. We often want to leave people with SHAME, while the Spirit of God leaves us with he SAVIOR. The Holy Spirit has us end with  the magnitude of God’s grace and glory! One leads and leaves in condemnation, the other leads and leaves with  no condemnation and the Exaltation of Jesus Christ!

God writing your obituary…

WHAT would He write on your’s? On mine? If today was our last on this earth, from among our generation ? “For David, after he had SERVED THE PURPOSE OF GOD IN HIS OWN GENERATION, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers and underwent decay; “- (ACTS 13:36.). ” David was a great blessing to the age wherein he lived. We were not born for ourselves, but there are those living around us, to whom we must study to be serviceable.”- Matthew Henry.

What a great prayer for us to pray. “LORD, please work in me and through me that I would purposely determine moment by moment to,- SERVE YOUR PURPOSE IN THIS,- MY GENERATION, before I go to spend eternity with You .”
