“For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power TO DESTROY STRONGHOLDS. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” – {2 Cor 10:3-5}

“STRONGHOLDS” speaks of “FORTRESSES” built up in the mind. The picture comes from fortresses that had thick walls surrounding the city and the inside of the buildings also were made of thick stone so they would be difficult to penetrate. It would take some stronger force to dismantle the stronghold, fortress. The word “fortress” can also mean “PRISONS.” People are held spiritually captive, …Strongholds in the mind through deception, sin, the standard of the world’s system and an evil liar, who seeks to kill steal and destroy people and keep them in bondage. Figuratively speaking it refers to “thoughts,” or thought patterns, that are anti God, anti-Gospel, anti-Christ. Lies embraced, believed, acted upon, are the blocks that build “the fortress!” For they exalt themselves against the knowledge of God- His Person, ways, will, Word!

God’s Spirit uses the One Weapon that dismantles, destroys the strongholds of lies, through His perfect, powerful, liberating Word of God, as you submit.

  •  “And now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, being able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all those having been sanctified. ” – {Acts 20:21}
  • “Prove yourselves to be doers of the Word”-{James 1:21-22}
  • “And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free!”-{John 8:32}
  • “we also constantly thank God that when you RECEIVED the Word of God which you heard from us, you ACCEPTED it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, THE WORD OF GOD, which also performs its work in you who believe.”-{1 Thess 2:13}

One “stronghold,” is to deceive you into thinking the Word of God is not necessary, sufficient for you, or to obey. That’s a “stronghold!” You need His Word, to expose and emancipate, liberate from the false concepts, half truths to walk in all who you are presently positionally “In Christ!”!  Jesus called Lazarus from the grave he was alive, Jesus told the people to take the grave clothes off as they hindered his walking. Renewing our mind, enables us to walk in freedom, newness of life, and “the walls come tumbling down!”and His Word frees and builds you up!
